Less populated trail located at Great Falls Park in Potomac. Trailhead is at the far end of the parking lot. Trail is a loop with 3 distinct sections. The first, the hike in, is a slight incline with 2 stream crossings, about 1/2 mile. The second, to the right at the fork, is a more challenging hike with 4 large hills to traverse as well as 3 streams, about 1 mile. The third, the return, is a winding path following the canal, with 3 stream crossings. Trail is very clear to see during the summer but is less clear in the fall and winter. During colder months, pay attention for the blue blazes marking the trail. Great loop for trail running or walking the dog.

Serene and peaceful easy walk/hike. Something the kids would love and full of wildlife.

Very smooth trail with many overlooks and historical interest items. Rode mountain bikes and had a superb time.

Very nice 0.7 mile loop trail that starts a bit beyond the North end of the parking lot.
