Love this place - I cook a lot of Asian dishes and it's really the only place near the Mission that you can find a wide variety of mostly East and SE Asian ingredients. The next closest place would probably be Golden Natural up on Church. They had garlic chives the day I stopped in, tons of different kinds of mushrooms and greens. They're all quite cheap and most of it is fresh. I've taken off one star because sometimes the produce isn't the greatest and you do have to pick through it to make sure you get a fresh item.

Felden Krais

Its produce is overpriced but its Asian variety is stellar. One can order a scrummy sandwich in the deli. Once it had raw peanuts but no longer.

Karan Shukla

Great selection for groceries, especially for uncommon cultural foods (primarily East Asian but also some South Asian and Hispanic goods as well). Employees are very friendly and checkout is fast.

Sylvia Lewis

Checkout people are always so cheerful. Excellent place for asian groceries. They even have squid ink ramen, to give an idea of the range of items there. Stocked with everything from Thai to Chinese to Korean.
