I went to the ER with chest pain and my left arm was in pain as well. They had me sit in the waiting room for 2 hours before I was even seen. The waiting room was completely empty so I don't know why it took them so long to get any attention. Not to mention I am 5 months pregnant. Dr. McWhorter was my doctor, he ran tests and asked me my tests were fine. I left, and the next day I received my results on the my health app. My levels were all abnormal!!!! To a point where my primary care physician needs to see me immediately. Dr. McWhorter did not listen to my concerns, it was almost as if he brushed me off by saying I was young. Not to bring race into this, but I am a black woman and he is a white man. I just felt like no one in the emergency room genuinely cared about my concerns which could have ultimately affected my life.

Pls everyone, if you have pamf you can't go here. Although it is Sutter health, this is east bay foundation which is different from Palo alto medical foundation. It's not all the same, you would have to go to Fremont pamf or the nearest pamf to you. But I must say the the front desk and urgent care team where very helpful and patience with sorting out the insurance details. Thank you so much for helping me and explaining to difference for future visits. Really helpful and supportive team at the urgent!

On August 2, 2020 I went to the Sutter Health, Eden Emergency Medical Center in Castro Valley, CA. I had recently been in an auto accident and first went to the Urgent Care because of neck, lower back, and left hand pain (I grabbed the seat belt with my left hand to brace for impact). After having a horrible experience with the Urgent Care Doctor (Dr. Uchenna Okoronkwo) I was wheeled to the Emergency Room, where I was seen by Dr. Claire Lyons and her staff. Upon entering the emergency room I was seen by a nurse, who immediately made me feel at ease. She took my vitals and showed concern for my injuries. She cracked a couple of jokes to cheer me up some and let me know I was in good hands now. A few minutes later Dr. Lyons came in to see me. She walked in with a smile on her face, introduced herself, and had wonderful bedside manners the entire time. That really meant a lot to me, and I was completely comfortable having her as a doctor. She was very professional and friendly, and I could tell she actually cared about my well-being. The doctor ordered Xrays to be taken of my left hand, back, and neck (which the previous doctor refused to do) and also prescribed me medication to help with the pain. While waiting for the Xrays to come back another nurse came and checked on me to see how I was doing. She was very nice and professional as well, and she informed me that the doctor would be back soon to go over the Xrays with me. Overall, my visit to the emergency room was a very pleasant experience. Dr. Lyons and the two nurses were not only professional, but they took very good care of me. They made me feel comfortable after a very stressful situation. I would recommend this staff to anyone needing healthcare.

Going to the hospital can be an anxiety-producing event, in addition to whatever ailment brought you there. I have been to this medical center several times: as an inpatient, in the ER and in the medical offices next door to the hospital. I was satisfied with each visit. The hospital staff is caring and attentive, both in the ER and on the medical floors. The medical offices are visually impressive. Customer service is great there. I am quickly checked in and see my doctor promptly. Both the hospital and offices are wheelchair accessible and somewhat wheelchair friendly. Wheelchair users with upper body weakness or large wheelchairs might find the medical office examination rooms challenging. The exam rooms are small (for wheelchair users) and have sliding doors that some might find heavy and difficult to open. Hopefully, I won’t need emergency or inpatient medical care any time soon, but if I do I know I will be well taken care of at Sutter Health Eden.
