If I could give Silverthorn no stars.... I would. After 35 years of renting houseboats at Lake Shasta... Silverthorn is by far the worst marina on the lake. 5 hours to get a reserved boat, 5 hours to return the boat. The customer service is unfriendly and as unreliable as the engines on the boat. Our boat was missing a steering wheel last year. We dangerously drifted along the Squaw River for hours waiting for a replacement. Windows won't open on many of the boats and it's always a flip of a coin to see if we'll get a boat that starts on the first try. The carts and parking situation at the marina are hazardous and it's incredibly inconvenient, especially during the busy, summer months. My family and friends will never be renting from this marina again. We've given them a chance year after year, but we will never trust our family vacation with Silverthorn again.

Boarding Marina dock is far away from main office.Boarding dock is private dock and you cannot park there too long. Had heavy rain at the time of boarding.No covered shuttle provided. Had to load stuff during rain. So red clay got all over the floor with kids and pets. We cleaned downstairs. There was no pressure washer or hose to wash upstairs. So we could not wash. They charged heavily for cleaning ($400-$500) the upper floor.IMO thattoo much. I think its fair to charge $200 to hose off a deck. They dont respond to calls after 5 pm in case boat gets stuck or need help with the boat.So if you are not a frequent and familiar boater ,I would recommend to rent from some where else.

Very shady houseboat company and non existent customer service. Rented the queen over memorial day weekend with 4 families. Right from beginning, sub standard quality of the boat and their customer service showed. Unfortunately it rained like crazy and we had to load our boat fully drenched and with mud all over with all our stuff with no help. There was one poor guy trying to get a few boats ready and he was getting snippy. We needed some help with the boat the next day and none of the emergency numbers work so if you get into some trouble you are on your own. Luckily we had good people around us who helped us figure out the problem . At the end they charged us $475 cleanup fee because the boat had mud from all the rain. What a scam !!! Try to find better rentals on the late from some reputable company and save yourself all the trouble we went through.

Rented a houseboat this weekend at Silverthorne, wow, water was low. we quickly found local parking and wheeled carts to carry our equipment and luggage on bored. The houseboat was awesome, it was prepped parked and ready for loading and in no time the service people had us on our way. Or second day on a store trip to purchase food and drinks the service techs took over and docked The boat and we’re super helpful with everything we needed. Great houseboat super clean and easy to drive. Thanks guys had a great time.
