The last time I was there was in early '90s. That was the last time My Brother and I got fly with Ike in his beautiful Great Lakes bi-wing ,and He also had a Waco cabin in that old hangar there. Hopefully we'll get a chance make back there and meet both of you.

Interesting place. Land only uphill, takeoff downhill. Great for hiking and relaxing

Flew in yesterday - it's a beautiful spot with a lot of history. It's well worth while looking at their website - lots of history for aviation buffs and great information for pilots. David and Aaron are welcoming and responsive to emails …

On a moderate grade and, like most unpaved surfaces, it can be hazardous during the winter season. But overall a pristinely maintained field, beautifully set on the hillside with a southward view you'd expect to find on a postcard. Worth a visit whether you're an aviator or not!

I’m afraid Ivan “Ike” Battern died in 2011 and his widow sold the airport in 2014. But we plan to keep it a public airport and maintain it to the best of our ability.
