I had been living with and taking care of my mother for a few years when she announced, after a series of falls that left us both feeling helpless, that she was ready to move to Assisted Living. My siblings and I set out to find her the perfect place, and The Arbors was the first of several we toured. I think we all knew it was "the one" right away, but we kept looking, just because we felt we owed it to Mom to check out every possibility. At the end of the search, we came back to number one. I don't think I've ever seen ANY business - let alone one tasked with keeping this many seniors happy, engaged, and safe - where the staff is across the board always cheerful and concerned. My Mom loves the people she sees here, notices when someone is out sick, feels connected to them. It sounds corny to say they're like family, but it's true. Those of us in her real family are beyond grateful that we found the best Assisted Living in the region. The fact that is among the most affordable is just icing on the cake.

My Aunt has been a resident at the arbors in Stoneham for almost 6 years. The facility is immaculate . Very high end but reasonably priced . The arbors cost is lower than most of the assisted living facilities in the area . The atmosphere is pleasant and elegant but not stuffy ! It is similar to having a condo in the Marriott! The staff is professional caring and very involved. Moving to the arbors at 92 , six years ago extended my aunts life. She has enjoyed activities daily at the arbors her day would begin right after breakfast in their elegant dining room where she is given a menu at every meal to choose her meal. She would have morning activities until lunch then afternoon activities followed by dinner . She really enjoyed the exercise classes daily and the creative classes Jewelry making arts and crafts . The wine hours and cheese during the week . The live musical entertainment weekly! The socials the holiday parties that outside family members are invited to as well. I have had my fair share of dinning at the arbors as my aunts guest the food was delicious a lot of seafood offerings including lobster . The wait staff were efficient friendly and assisted to the individual residents needs . I spent a lot of time at the arbors several times a week over the past 5 years different days different times observed so many interactions during calm times ,socials , quiet days with the arrival of medical personnel called via 911 . The staff is always calm reassuring to the ill resident and attentive as they would if it was there own parent . My aunt enjoyed sitting on the several patios and front porch as well as walking the landscaped grounds . The staff is always pleasant and goes above and beyond to accommodate the residents their guests and family members . The director Colleen Doherty does an outstanding job her positive leadership cascades thru her staff to always greet you the same way Collen does with a smile and feeling of being welcome and always by your name . Sadly my aunt suffered a stroke and required assistance daily the last two months I was there from morning to night , I witnessed first hand the aids providing assistance to my aunt . I recall one day saying to Colleen your aids come in so much to check on my aunt please let them know I am here from 730 to 8pm they don’t have to . Ms. Doherty said to me Joe we know how hard this is on you and your aunt and how close you are . They are checking on you to , make sure you are ok if you need anything thru the day . At times aides would come in and say if you want to step out I can stay with your aunt . Ms Doherty would drop in during those times and visit for a while as well as the nurse . I recall one night having an ambulance there and an aide who was not tasked with my aunt care that shift , she came down to see if she could help as she went out in the ambulance and to see if I was ok. This was the same aid that went out of her way to come see me the day my aunt died in May , she wanted to express her condolences as all of the staff did either stopping me in the hall or coming to knock on the door as I was cleaning out my aunts apartment each with a story of my aunt and how much they liked her . Even the front desk staff would assist when needed my aunt would go out to them for TV channel changes as her on start dementia was developing or asking them to call me or other unusual requests she would have never asked prior to her confusion . They always did what she needed never refused or complained. I highly recommend the arbors in Stoneham they are a top notch organization . I believe it all stems from the leadership of Ms. Doherty her excellent communication skills her caring disposition and warm inviting personality . The care she and her staff provided keeping the residents safe and no covid deaths. Ms Doherty made sure residents stayed in their rooms doing laundry and delivering three meals a day to each resident free of charge . Thank you Ms.Doherty and your wonderful staff for all you do !
