I was excited to go to habitat ReStore last week as I have purchased many large items there in the past. I went with my father-in-law and husband and we are all fully vaccinated. We walked in and as we were walking down the first aisle in an empty warehouse, we had an unmasked employee approach us telling us that customers are asked to wear masks. My husband responded that we’re fully vaccinated and why were we required when she was not wearing a mask? She said she wasn’t walking very far (out of her office), yet she was in the store and only about 6 feet from us. She said that there were masks at the front, so we went to the front to find only one mask available. I went out to the car to get my mask but then had to go in to get the car key from my husband. When I called him over without going into the store she came up to me and told me that she didn’t want me upset, because I said “I’ll just leave”. I can’t support a business like this. Meanwhile there was a gentleman who is shopping in another aisle that said they could throw him out if they wanted him to wear a mask, but that was not an option. He was left alone. She continued to tell us she isn’t trying to be political, just trying to protect the majority. In NY the majority is fully vaccinated. If asked to wear a mask we will often oblige out of respect, but not when the employee making the request is unmasked themselves. I would pass on visiting this store.

The is a very good placeto find all kinds of used items in great shape when we are in such hard times. They are doing a great service to the community. And the range of items, quality, price to purchase is great. Highly recommend.

I've found some pretty good stuff here. What keeps me from coming back is the amount of times one of the managers in particular has bait and switched pricing on items within the store when brought up to the register. Items that have been clearly marked as a set I was told were per item, and items that were marked too low for their liking were upcharged at checkout, the discrepancy being explained away as a simple mistake. Too bad, take it out leave it. I'm all about donating to this charity, but it's not really cool to attempt to manipulate shoppers into spending more than they had anticipated at checkout. Having read through other reviews it seems as though this is an issue that does not go unnoticed. My concern is that the individual responding is also the one responsible for marketing, or that the known issue is either embraced or ignored. It seems similar grievances though acknowledged and responded to have not been met with an adequate change in business practices, just empty words meant to save face. I've often left without buying anything when a certain individual is working, knowing the way they've carried about business in the past. I don't have a ton of cash to throw around. It's too bad, because this had the potential to be a great resource as other locations have been in the past. Locations where management has been more willing to serve the customer.
