We've been there twice, so perhaps after more visits, our review may change to more (or fewer) stars. We felt the quality of the food was quite good, but communication could be a LOT better, both in person and on their website and voicemail. On our first visit, I had a curried chicken salad wrap - made with lots of lettuce and curried mayo, so I was surprised when waiting an unusually long time for it (with no one else waiting for food ahead of me), I discovered the delay was because it was being warmed up. It never occurred to me to heat up a wrap with ingredients that are usually served cold. I'm not adverse to that, but it was puzzling, and the result was a combination of both warm and cold filling. It's like swimming in a spring-fed pond - cold blast, warm area, cold blast, etc. There's no cheese that needs to be melted either. I would suggest that warming be offered as optional. They had a packaged gluten-free brownie that was pretty good. They have a good drink selection too. For the second visit, I saw online that we could order in advance. Yea! For the Sheffield location, the website says to order by 2:30 pm 'cause they close at 3:00. I spent some time getting all the details fine-tuned for our order and pressed send at 2:20, and NOPE, it was rejected. I tried again, and it was still not accepted. My clock was right. Maybe they didn't change over their computer clocks after the last time change? So, we showed up to order in person. I didn't hurry, 'cause when I called to ask about the online ordering (and to order over the phone instead), I got a voicemail for the Sheffield location saying they close at FOUR pm. Great, I have even more time. Well, no, we didn't. The sign at the entrance said they close at 3:00. We arrived at about 2:30 and ordered two items. My tuna sandwich was fine, (I substituted cheddar cheese for the beets which is a substitution offered online, but the amount of cheddar was one slice. I like beets, I like tuna, but not together, so this alternative seemed good, but was skimpy. My husbands' Shay's Rebellion sandwich was to include sprouts. When he got it, besides being pretty meager overall, there were no sprouts. He took it back inside and asked, "Shouldn't this have sprouts?" The answer was, "We don't have sprouts." "But doesn't it come with them?" "We don't have sprouts." They didn't say, "We're out of sprouts," or "I'm sorry, we don't have any more sprouts left," implying they should - they said it like, NO, we're not supposed to have them and you're being odd to ask. There was also no "I'm so sorry about that." Just a gruff response as if my husband was silly to be asking. No apology which is so easy to say. If they're out of something, the staff should let the cashier know so that he/she can say, "I'm sorry, we don't have sprouts at the moment. We can substitute lettuce or arugula for you, or, would like to order something else...?" Better communication all around would improve this place ten-fold. And, smiles too. The cashiers were nice (one quite shy, but that's okay), but smiles would go a long way in smoothing over some of their bumps.

Not many options around the area but if anything, this place is a really solid one. Great soup and sandwiches all around.

Wife and I happened upon this cafe, and we're very glad we did. Interesting, inventive, flavorful, substantial sandwiches with friendly service. We didn't rate higher only because we had such a small sample.

Great cafe with wonderful, helpful staff. I had lunch there and took a sandwich to go for dinner, it was that good. Loved the fresh ingredients and vibe of the place. Will be back on my next visit to the Berkshires.
