This was a Gem I legitimately was blown away by the exhibits at the WoodMan Museum The staff was incredible knowable and nice. Basically a private tour of a museum that could never exist today

Awesome museum. Affordable. So much to see, lots of knowledge to share.

The first time I'd visited the museum was when I was 5 years old. I went back today with my kids. I was beyond thrilled to see the polar bear was still there. The museum had thousands of pieces including a full, original building from the 1600s (The Garrison). Essentially it's an American history museum from the colonial period to about the sixties. The main building has: Minerals World war memorabilia Vintage dolls Insect and taxidermy examples (bison, moose, manatee, owls, other birds, moths, butterflies, etc) The Garrison is full of time period antiques including spinning wheels, cobbler tools, etc. The third house belonged to Senator Hale who worked with Lincoln on abolition and who's daughter was the fiancee of John Wilkes Booth. It is two floors of pieces from the Lincoln years as well as from the textile period in Dover history. In short it's worth a visit, or two. I look forward to going back without my kids so I can take more time.

I've been here many times over the years, my latest excursion was for the middle school art show. My daughter had some pieces in it. This is a great spot to see the oldest house in New Hampshire, some unique ephemera and pieces from the area, as well as learning about the great local history. If you are at all interested in history this should be a stop for you. If you have absolutely no interest in history it's still worth stopping in just for the experience.

The grounds have paved paths, and there is a wheelchair entrance for the Woodman building but no elevator to the upper floors yet.
When I was there last year, admission was $13.00 per person.
I believe it was $13 ($10 for seniors). It also includes a free return trip within a few months. Amazing place. I highly recommend.
That I do not know-- the Woodman can tell you directly, or see their website. A great, unique place.
