Incredible resource for central Vermont. One stop shopping for hard to dispose of material. Offices in Montpelier, disposal (ARCC) in Barre, guidance online.

The Barre facility can accept electronics during it's operating hours (please see the website, www.cvswmd.org, for details). ReSource in Barre would be a good outlet for working electronics but they will also accept computers and TV's at no charge in any condition, as will Computer Barn on the Barre-Montpelier Road.
No, we are not a waste hauling service, but if you would like to find a hauler or transfer station, go to our website: https://www.cvswmd.org/licensed-hauler-list.html or https://www.cvswmd.org/transfer-stations.html
Hi Becky - In central Vermont, used mattresses that are not able to be donated (ripped, stained or worn) go to the landfill. Typically there will be a fee for disposal. Check out our transfer station page on our website to see a list of options in our district: http://www.cvswmd.org/transfer-stations.html Please note we are specific to our 19 member towns and do not have information that covers all of Vermont.
Hi Ingrid - if you live in the central Vermont area, you can put plastic bottle tops back on the bottle they came with, then put into your recycle bin. DO: be sure that your bottle is empty, rinsed and dry before putting the top back on.
You cannot contact Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District through Google. Please go their website for a full list of what the Additional Returnable Collection Center (ARCC) will take. The ARCC is located in Barre. CVSWMD does not take anything at their offices in Montpelier. You can also learn what esle the District does through the website: www.cvswmd.org Thanks for your interest and thank you for asking.
Hi Gale - yes CVSWMD accepts car tires for a fee. Go to http://www.cvswmd.org/arcc.html for location, current fees, and the complete list of what they can accept at the ARCC.
CVSWMD does not not manage any landfills. Contact the local company that manages the transfer station or garbage dump/landfill (such as Casella) near you for quotes on cost per load.
Antifreeze is regulated as hazardous waste, which the Barre facility is not authorized to accept. You can bring it to our yearly hazardous waste field collections so check the website (www.cvswmd.org) for a schedule.
If it's clean enough, consider asking any of the homeless shelters in Barre/Montpelier. Other than that, they are trash. The bedbug scare a few years ago caused most thrift stores to err on the side of caution and refuse them, outright.
Try Beverage Baron in Barre. The transfer station in Stowe also accepts them. Without knowing your location, it's hard to make a suggestion but those are the two closest to Montpelier. I agree that it is frustrating.
Hi Annie, we do recycle tires but not tractor tires.
CVSWMD does not accept cars or trucks for recycling. Try a metal recycler like Buldoc's, All Metals or Gates Salvage.
