Adopted a dog from here a month ago. The staff were very friendly. The animals all are well cared for. The staff was very helpful in finding a dog that fit what I was looking for. I came to look at a specific dog, which is the one I adopted, and they had me look at a few others that fit what I wanted just in case. I appreciated their dedication to their animals.

These recent negative reviews have prompted me to leave a positive one (although I should have done it much sooner as we’ve had a lot of positive experiences!) To address the negative - sending your friends to leave one star reviews because you were irresponsible with your dog is pretty pathetic. It is against the law for a shelter to give an unlicensed dog back to someone. This was a completely avoidable issue. Do better. We have fostered a cat+kittens, fostered/adopted a dog from Lewis County, and have sent friends there to adopt several times. They have always been easy to work with and very caring. They were with us every step of the way with our sweet Bowzer, and even checked on us the day he passed. I worked in rescue prior to this and found it extremely refreshing that the girls in charge are also the ones working with the animals day in and day out. Trust me - it makes a major difference! They are very transparent about what they have learned about the animals in the time that they’ve been there. They are willing to put in time, medical care, training etc. to ensure each one is ready to find the right fit no matter how many tries it takes or how much money they need to raise. Rescue is not easy, but they are doing it right. ❤️

I got a dog named Lemmi She is a beautiful dog and very well behaved they help me a lot there at the shelter. The people here are very nice and they do the best for every single person some people like complaining, The people that work here it's all volunteers and I do it best a lot of these ladies volunteer their time to help these animals please be nice to them Gary

While I have not adopted a pet through the humane society, a quick glance at their work they update daily through social media proves they love and care for the animals in (and out) of their care. It's a shame some people want to treat them like waste disposal or like a convenience store. I applaud the work they do, it takes a strong person to give so much with so little in return.

We do not have an official program, but would love to see seniors adopt senior pets! We will definitely work with any seniors to help them get a senior pet at a price they can afford. We also have some pets that the adoptions are already sponsored, if cost is a factor. Please call our shelter to talk with the Shelter Manager about options, 315-376-8349.
Great we could use a few more stop by the shelter to Sign up
Not aware of any place that does it for free but if you call Spay/Neuter Now it will definitely be at a much discounted price.. Their Number is 315-486-0094 . There will be a clinic at Lewis County Humane Society on May 23rd But you must first submit an application to Spay/Neuter Now
if you get powdered milk or a milk supplement from walmart made just for kittens it is made by Wiskas it is called cat milk and there is also catsure which you can feed with a dropper until it is old enough to feed on its own also keep the kitten warm
I am not sure which Black and tan dog you are referring to - there is no picture attached
