Balboa Pier was built in 1905 in anticipation of the arrival of the Pacific Red Car Line (1906) and of course tourists from Los Angeles. Dine with stunning ocean view at Ruby's Diner on the pier. But choose weekdays for Ruby's, it's very crowded on weekends.

A nice place to sit and relax, not too many people as the weather was a bit cool but it was great to take in the wind and waves.

Enjoyed sunny weekend in Newport Beach. Spent several days fishing on Balboa pier. Pier was clean. Ruby's restaurant at end of pier is open. Boardwalk between Balboa pier and Newport pier. Easy to walk to both piers or ride a bike. Will be returning soon.

One of my favorite beaches...plenty of restaurants and stuff to do.

H. B. Pier has excellent fishing right now ! My 4 year old grandson is catching fish now, as we speak ! He's so excited ! Fishing with his Dad & Brother !
Yes lifeguard stations on both sides of the pier
Honestly, I'm not from the area and it was the first time, coincidentally I was going with my best friend who is disabled, the parking lot we used was approximately 300 meters from the pier. Excuse me, I do not identify qualities are the 2 and 3 that you mention. I have a photo of the parking lot and it says “9763” we were able to get around with ease in the wheelchair. I hope you find it useful. Enjoy ;)
Yes, I also saw people fishing there on Christmas Eve.
Well...you could get a scooter (more practical for your daughter) or a wheel chair for her but yes there's a rental for both!!!...yay!!🤗
Newport Beach does not allow Bonfires but Corona Del Mar on the south end and Huntington Beach on the north end both allow fires in the provided bonfire rings. Be sure to come early because the limited number fire rings get taken up fast.
No
All these. I recommend coming prepared and seeing what the fish are feasting on. Expect to catch mackerel.
I'm not sure if it's "allowed" but that hasn't stopped anyone else.
From what I know, dogs are allowed in the morning and in the evening! From the Newport Beach website: "Before 10 a.m. and after 4:30 p.m., dogs are allowed, if they are securely restrained by a substantial leash or chain not exceeding six feet in length and controlled by a person who is competent to restrain the dog. Off-leash dogs are never allowed in any public spaces including parks and beaches." Hope this helps.
I'm not 100, but I don't think so.
A lot of small mackerel about 2 weeks ago as well. Biggest I saw was probably 10 inch...guy next to me was bringing them in 3 at a time so it's pretty good.
Yes the beach allows pets after 430 I believe , but the pier allows pets & some restaurants do also
Please see if you have the opportunity.
It depends on how long you stay. There are machines where you can buy time to park
Yes, allowed anytime.
Yes you can, however the yields are not very high. If you are looking to catch crabs midwinter is the best time here in Southern California. But just remember anything less than 7 in in diameter goes back into the ocean. California Fish and Game are there monitoring this. Make sure and respect all wildlife! :-) blessings to you
On August 8, 2018 it was $2.10 per hour. Take a cellphone picture of your license plate for use at the pay machines.
There's free, metered, prepay and pay when you leave from the pier parking area...depends on where you park. You need to get there before 10 a.m. for sure then you can probably find some free parking on some of the side streets going down the peninsula if you're lucky otherwise in the middle of the street on the peninsula there's metered parking on both sides and then there's the parking in the pier area good luck
On the beach there is near the playground. Up on the pier I don't think it's allowed.
