Arrive early as the parking area is small! Challenging hike!! Take your time the last 3/4 of a mile as that's where it gets hard.

It's a nice easy start until you start the climb. The colors were wonderful below today, but the top was nothing but winds and low clouds (but we expected as much). It was a good hike. Definitely doing it again on a better day.

Awesome views at the peak, trail is easy for the first 2.25 miles but gets very steep for the last .75 mile that will challenge you a bit but worth the hike to the top.

I had an incredible time climbing and hammock camping on the way up over night. Friendly hikers and dogs, trail is very clean and interesting with widely varying levels of difficulty until the final climb at the top. Had a blast! Would do again. Very busy trail head in the daytime. Saranac town nearby has lots of great views and character.

No. Not only is it all rock, but it's unsafe to be there at night.
Route 3 between Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake.
The part of the parking lot has a trail that goes to a beach which possibly you can camp out on the beach picnic area possibility private
