It's a gem in the area . Just an excellent place to ski. Large rustic beautiful ski Lodge with a nice place to warm your toes and catch your breath before you head back out.. Well groomed trails. Right in the beautiful Green mountains of Vermont. Check it out you're going to love this place.

This was our first family ski trip in many years. We used to go downhill skiing but the cost has gotten ridiculous (nearby Mt. Snow would have cost us 1k for two days of skiing with rentals, lesson, and lift tickets). Not only was the price much more reasonable at Prospect but we had the added bonus of not having to avoid out of control beginner snow boarders on every run. A huge perk for sure! The staff were courteous and helpful. They do not have lockers but the owner offered to keep my wife's purse safe behind the counter while we went skiing. The resort has a small town vibe and even the folks skiing there were friendly. Lots of smiles, waves, and even a few people stopped to cheer on our five year old son as he tucked into a racing stance for a run down the hill. Sunday there was a race going on and the parking lot was probably half full. However, the runs never felt crowded probably due to the amount of terrain available, which really helped spread everyone out. The pesto in the lodge is delicious and they even had veggie and black bean burgers, which was great because I am vegan. The serving sizes were a little small though, or maybe I was just famished from skiing for several hours... Despite the portions the food was good, no complaints there. After lunch save your scraps for the wild pheasant (ask the staff where you can find him/her) that likes to come out of the forest and prance around in exchange for food. We paid for a private couples lesson both days and our instructor Jenn was top notch. I used to be an assistant ski instructor (adaptive programs) and her ability to communicate clearly and effectively while being very encouraging soon had my wife skiing comfortably on the green runs and helped me dial in my skate technique (on classic skis no less too)! We had a blast at Prospect and will certainly be coming back throughout the season.

Very friendly and welcoming place. I'm a first timer and so were my friends, but they got us on skis and on the trails no sweat. The snow was lovely and the trails a good mix of chill and challenge.

Some days I just want the trails to myself- they're that good. I love coming here. It feels like home, and the crew does a great job no matter what the conditions. Truly an amazing asset to have here in Southern VT. (PS: Get the chili in a bread bowl. If you are GF- I'm sorry!). My cousin also held her wedding here a few falls ago, and Prospect in the fall is beautiful, and provided a great country setting for our family and the kids to run around. Thank you!

Gregory King | Jul 8, 2019

Tim & Patient Zero said it all. People also go sledding, telemarking (using skins 2 go uphill) & snow shoeing is also allowed (rentals available). But certain trails R reserved 4 XC skiers only.

What kind of groomed trails do you have (classic, skate ski)? How many miles of groomed trails?

Prospect Mountain Ski Area (Owner) | Jul 8, 2019

Prospect Mountain has more than 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) of trails. With sufficient snow fall all these trails can be groomed with tracks for classic skiing, all main trails are wide enough to skate on with only a handful of wooded trails being designed for classic only. With minimum snow fall freestyle skiing is encouraged with older rock skis. A basic map indicating the main trails can be found on our website under Explore.
