Pros: - Best of the best finish quality - Fast - Responsive communication Cons: - Exxxxpeeeeeeeernsiiiive ! ! (just to plate stuff they charge more than other places like C&O charge to make the whole piece) - their communication is responsive but lacked a bit of clarity. I was expecting a different finish than the one I received. They sent me a picture of a finish that did not look at all like the finished product. The customer ended up taking it, so it was no problem but it could have been a nightmare. My advice is if you’ve got a big budget to work with go to them. And be very clear on the exact finish they will put on your piece. Oh, most importantly, make sure you’re sitting down when you get the bill! If you fit that profile, they are probably the best place to go to.

I own a custom bike shop and we regularly use General Brite to plate frames and bike parts. I’ve always been 110% satisfied with their work. But what makes them really stand out is their customer service. On my first visit, the owner took the time to show me all around the place and explain how everything works. They have a truly amazing operation there. I wanted to stay all day! I love making trips to drop off product and seeing all of the amazing projects they’re working on. These guys are awesome and so creative and talented. I love working with them and have recommended them to countless clients. Their prices are also better than anyone else in the city that I’ve used. Some places that claim to do plating actually send the work out to these guys! The work doesn’t happen overnight and you have to be prepared to wait for the work to be done. This is because operations like this are rare and they are working on hundreds of projects at once. If you do need a rush job, they can usually accommodate. This place is a gem and I’m so grateful that they are here in LA!

I had a wonderful experience with General Brite, who plated a large metal sculpture for me, with hand finishing / burnishing, as well as helping to create a rainbow patina effect through paints and dyes on stainless steel (Hector is the guy for spray painting!). They really have the expertise in how to create different aesthetics, and I saw many amazing projects around the workshop - furniture, art, and interior design objects. The owners are passionate about what they do and I recommend consulting with one of them to determine what you need for the project, before they hand you over to their team who can make it all happen. I liaised directly with owner Alan Olick, who has a passion for art and sculpture, a very keen eye for detail and colour, and can give you ideas for how to do things. I always recommend asking advice on the best way to achieve what you want - often there is more than one route to the finish you require so these guys should be able to recommend the most effective for your needs. I also found that if anything was not quite right, the team were happy to adjust or re-do it as I am a perfectionist in my work. I really appreciated the help of Trino who gave me permission to film some of the making-process on site, and was very accommodating even with my strange requests to bring a couple of film crew members behind the scenes! This really was going over and above. The company is busy, with a lot of hard-working team members and much going on in the space - I found that the best way to work together was to meet face to face, to go in and get to know the team rather than do everything by email. Personal touch is best! When I was nearing the end of my project I was introduced to David who was good at managing the process - giving feedback on when things will be finished and chasing up on pending items. I believe that David coming in as production supervisor / first contact point for customers, is going to help the process at General Brite run very smoothly. Thanks again for your awesome help!

Really horrible experience! I have a piece of chair welded with wire frame, for my furniture design class, I want it be plated! But they say It has to be polished first before playing!, then they charge me 300$ for polishing and 200 for plating, I thought they will polish the whole chair, HOWEVER, they only polish the front side, more concisely, they only polish where we can see! They say they normally don't polish where we can't see! so the welded joints are all left unpolished! It ruins its quality, and the sharp angle hurts people! the problem is that people move while they are seating, their hands or body can easily been hurt by those unpolished parts, coz it has so much sharp leftover! i got hurt and my finger was cut to blooded just in one day! even the front side, the polishing is very rough! Still left many parts unpolished! I have done school project before, so I know what good polishing is ! This is definitely not!the project I did before was similar size, but only cost me 160 for polishing, and it was so great! This polishing definitely not worth 300 dollars ! "It is desired to be a high end chair, but the details sort of ruin the whole design" those are my tutor's words. It is said Alan, the owner used to teach in art center, I'm from art center, I didn't see his "art center"attitude towards a project, if he had the attitude, the chair won't be done so roughly! Art center people chase for perfection ! Now he is just a businessman desiring more money from my perspective.I was in rush for my final, so I had to take the chair, but I'll never go there again!
