A well designed museum, filled with interesting artifacts and machines. Supplemented with many bits of knowledge. Probably the most ideal place for such a museum. Really enjoyed learning how slide rules work, playing early computer games, and seeing the evolution of computers in detail. Don't accidentally touch the typewriter though.

This place is really good. My wife & I spent about 2-2.5 hours here, and ran out of time. The exhibits are great, the history is great, and the staff were incredibly friendly. When they found out we were sightseeing, the provided us with a list of other must-see areas in the Bay. Over the top customer service! Thanks for such a great museum and welcoming experience!

It has vastly changed since I last went about 12 years ago. It's has transformed from a warehouse display to a contemporary museum. Mainframes and Minicomputers have sadly shrunk in display, but the Microcomputers of the 80s and 90s have been fleshed out and put on display. There's even a number of video game consoles.

Good to visit You travel back in the history of computer and high tech companies The Computer History Museum (CHM) is a museum of computer history, located in Mountain View, California. The museum presents stories and artifacts of Silicon Valley and the information age, and explores the computing revolution and its impact on society. In 1999, TCMHC incorporated and TCM ceased operation, shipping its remaining artifacts to TCMHC in 2000. The name TCM had been retained by the Boston Museum of Science so, in 2000, the name TCMHC was changed to Computer History Museum (CHM). In 2002, CHM opened its new building, previously occupied by Silicon Graphics, at 1401 N. Shoreline Blvd in Mountain View, California, to the public. The facility was later heavily renovated and underwent a two-year $19 million makeover before reopening in January 2011.

It is a history museum so it is more a focus on where technology and computers has been most impactful.
Two hours if you skip some galleries and many more if you want to read all the descriptions, watch all the videos, etc I'd recommend skipping some galleries if there are topics that you're more interested in than others
Yes this is the history from the beginning of computers to now. It was amazing.
It's 17.50 - general admission and 13.50 for senior(65+), students (11+), and active US military. I went on a Tuesday, and as it is off on tuesdays they gave a 2$ discount card to use next time.
My opinion is...yes, because you have a lot and I mean A LOT of things to interact with, so he'll find a drone modle, a self driving car, a crash test and much more things interesting because you press a button and multiple things start reacting making kids satisfied or make 'em laugh. Thank you.
Actually, there is a coffee and snack area in the lobby where you can get espresso, cold drinks, sandwiches and cookies- good, but lite eats.
The Computer History Museum (CHM) was established in 1996. Artifacts date back to 2nd world war example enigma machine and before that to Chinese abacuses used for counting. Fascinating image is Moore's Law. To see the parabola wrt IC releases is enlightening

I don't think so but I know they're open at 10 on Wednesday
Probably the abacus they have on display. They lost the Babbage machine unfortunately.
On my recent visit, I was there almost the entire time the museum was open. How long you spend there will really depend on you. If you like looking at everything in detail, it could take 6 to 7 hours. If you're good at skimming and maintaining a pace, you can get through it in an hour.
You need to give a minimum of 3~4 hours to make justice. However you need a full day if you wish to go through in detail and watch all audio-visual stuff which is pretty good and informative.
It should be fine to just go the museum on that day and get your tickets
I used an Lyft easy ride didn't have to worry about directions or parking even though they have parking.
I think BOA bank has some tie up for particular day of the month ...google it
Yes, I remember there were a Babbage engine at display
Yes. It is open on Presidents Day this year and most years.
I am not sure, you can call them and confirm it before hand
General admission is currently $17.50. Student admission is currently $13.50. Children 10 and younger are free. Groupon has some good deals that may lower the cost.
They didn’t check us for a recent test but did ask for our proof of vaccination
