Hi Samantha- Both BigCommerce and Shopify are great platforms. We usually recommend them to different merchants for different reasons. Shopify is a great platform for less complex ecommerce scenarios. More D2C, less distinctive audience demands, simpler product catalogs, etc. You also have a pretty extensive app catalog to choose from if you need customizations. It also is a bit easier than BigCommerce from a content management system experience. Most of our small team, smaller GMV, smaller catalog clients in beauty, fashion, jewelry, and some CPG categories prefer Shopify. BigCommerce tends to be a more feature rich platform without the use of apps at all plan tiers. It will support very simple ecommerce businesses and highly complex ones. Its app catalog is smaller but features less duplication than the Shopify app catalog. Additionally, since the core platform tends to do more, it will usually reduce the # of apps per ecommerce store by 3 to 5.
