The upsides: The absolute best thing about this place is Hannah, our waitress. She was friendly, accommodating, and quick with suggestions! The chili cheese fries: spicy, tangy, creamy. Absolutely amazing! The BLT: kiddo says it's the best he's ever had. The cons: I didn't care for the IPA style beers. My husband liked the hefe and pilsner, but I couldn't find a beer on the menu that I was excited to drink. Bottom line: come for the food and have a prickly pear margarita instead of IPA style beer!

I came here after a long day of skiing looking for a great beer and a Hearty burger, I found a beer but not to satisfy me I was looking for. I ordered the bison burger and I was very disappointed in its appearance and taste. The Patty was similar to the size and appearance to what I would get at McDonald’s. The burger was drenched in mustard and cheese and could barely taste the bison burger, which should have a unique taste to it. I even asked my waiter if this was the right burger that I had ordered and he said it was. Looking at photos of other reviews, it looks like I did get the right burger but a sad version of it. The fries and the double IPA were absolutely amazing, but I will admit I was disappointed by the appearance and taste of the bison burger. I hope attention to detail returns to this burger. The ambience and the wait staff were absolutely amazing.

The best place to stop for a drink and a bite, whether you're heading to the mountains, or returning from. Westbound & Down is a Brewery and Restaurant that offers delicious food and very tasty beers. I always try to make a stop after any day on the slopes or after a summer hike. Their crisp beers are perfect after a long day of work. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and a sizable bar, there is seating everywhere. They have all styles of beer, my favorites are The Coloradoan Mexican Lager and the Westbound IPA. Perfect for light beer drinkers and hop heads alike. I tried out the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich this time around and added some pickles, the chicken had a nice crisp to it, and the blue cheese coleslaw was the perfect topping for it. I highly recommend a stop here if you're passing by Idaho Springs.

Beautiful restaurant, great atmosphere. The bar in the buffalo room was beautiful and the stools were very comfortable just as the hostess recommended. The two bartenders were very nice and also very efficient. The “green grass and good times” was one of the best drinks I’ve ever had, definitely the best I’ve had while in Colorado. My husband also enjoyed his Old Fashioned. The bison burger was delicious. I was stoked to see there was a gluten free option for the bun. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich he thought it was yummy also. Westbound and Down was a perfect end to a perfect day in the Idaho Springs area.

Dogs are only allowed out back or front on either "hitchin' post", there unfortunately is not a patio and dogs are not allowed inside the restaurant - unless they provide a physical service in which case they are

What was this place named before?

I believe it used to be the dining room of the buffalo restaurant. The buffalo is still there, connected to the brewery. Get food in the brewery, get beer in the restaurant
