This was awesome! Learning a ton about the mines that you see dotting I-70 was incredible, and our tour guide Michael was great! Robyn showed us some awesome gold panning tips and we brought home a whole bunch of gold flake, peacock pyrite ore, a copper nugget and an amethyst from a short time panning in their sluice pond setup. We have been coming to Colorado for decades on vacation, and this was our first time going to Country Boy. We added it to our required list for when new people come to see us in Colorado! Plan for at least two hours, about one hour for the tour and a minimum of another hour to pan for gold. I would’ve stayed much longer if my wife hadn’t finally pulled me away(I think they were also closing)!

Our guide Michael was fantastic, he was geeking out that we knew most of the answers to his questions. We got the extended tour, plus we panned for gold for over 90 minutes. We then threw axes for an hour. Definitely worth a great afternoon.

Such a fun place. We were looking for an activity that was fun for the different ages in our group. We all had a great time sledding. Our instructor Mike was wonderful and even took fabulous photos of our group for us. The entire staff is super friendly. Very much worth the trip! Only thing I wish they would accept Apple Pay. Had to hunt my husband down for 10 minutes so I can make a purchase.

Wow just wow! Talk about a good experience and amazing staff!! The reviews speak for themselves. We enjoyed the mine tour.. very neat. Our guide Mauve was SO informative on every detail! It was seriously impressive. It was such a cool experience, something we had never experienced. We enjoyed panning afterwards as well. It was nice that they have the warm panning by the fire inside. :-) We did the extreme sledding after! It was sooo fun and fast! The guy driving the sleds up there in the jeep was super friendly and cool! From the manager Jonathan to our mine guide Mauve and all of the friendly staff - THANK YOU! You made our trip. Can’t give enough stars! This company is the bomb.

Hi Alan - it looks like what is nicknamed peacock ore - real name Bornite or Chalcopyrite - one of my favorites!!!
Yes. Outside. But the fun part of the place is the scavenger hunt
You're welcome to just turn up, but tours do fill up, so advise booking online if you can
