Let me start off by saying I was traveling from out of town and my family took me to this restaurant. Knowing my family it's always good food and this place really exceeded my expectations because I love spicy food and just from the start the appetizers the green tomatoes and the okra was everything the seasoning the breading I didn't have to add any salt any hot sauce or anything it was A1. I really wanted some of everything just to try it and the waitress was so kind to give me a little sample cup of gumbo which was excellent which made me think after I ordered my meal perhaps I should have got the gumbo too but my catfish was delicious and fresh the macaroni was good the red beans and rice was okay could have had a little more spice to it or maybe a little bit of meat. I most definitely next time I come to Chicago will make it a point to come back to the Dixie kitchen to get me a whole bowl of gumbo and of course some more fried green tomatoes I'm not really into pasta trying to cut down on the carbs but just for my experience it was very good I would most definitely recommend this place over and over again and I would love if they did some type of franchise and came to Detroit Michigan 🤔😉😁 Can I also like to thank the manager for making a concession as it relates to my seafood cakes I'm never one to send back food or to try to get over on any restaurants and just wasn't cooked fully but she took care of it for me and I really appreciate that. The waitress was kind and efficient no complaints at all service with a smile. Check out my before and after photos

Food was great but I was so sick 🤮 that same evening after eating there. Not sure if it was any blood born pathogens on a knife, fish wasn’t cooked thoroughly or just a 24 hour bug?! I had the catfish, spaghetti, and coleslaw and the hurricane drink. However, our waitress was great!

The food was EXCELLANT! It was a bit of a wait & yes there was quite a few rules. BUT the food and drinks made it all worth while. I will definitely go again!

Let me say, "the food was simply AmaZzzzing" I had the baby catfish, and it definitely wasn't a baby. My husband's catfish filet was fried to perfection. Mac&cheese, was let me just say "Schmacking!" Portion sizes were well worth the fair price. My husband & I will for sure be back. Ask for the chef, and give a standing ovation after you get your meal and enjoy.
