I give it a 4, because I'm a mountain person. The campsite and bathroom are well maintained. Camping is always fun, but when the site can handle 3 vehicles and lots of room for tents, friends laughter and music, it makes it very special. We went to the star gazing, star map night. The presentation was fun and informative.

Great park! Lots of scenic views and very nice campgrounds! A beautiful state park for sure! The slot canyons were very pretty and the hikes are very scenic.

So many nice hiking trails out here such as Palm Canyon, The Slot Canyon, Maidenhair falls, etc...and if you want to drive offroading for 4 miles to see scenic view you should stop at Font's Point. You will not be disappointed.

Backcountry camping is permitted, but fire restrictions may be in place depending on the season and drought conditions. I have backpacked Hellhole Canyon and Palm Canyon a half dozen times and they did not permit it, but most recently it was permitted at the Palm Canyon campground in their campsites, in the fire rings only. They also ask that you buy the wood locally so as not to introduce invasive pests. Best to call the rangers at the Palm Canyon campground and be certain.
Never camped there before. My understanding is it's open as long as no fires and non obstructing any entrances. But always confirm with the rangers
I did not pay anything camp there on any night. Paid for the travel and food on the way back from there
