I've been volunteering at Red Bucket Equine Rescue for about 8 months now. The animals are cared for meticulously with SO much love and respect. Despite often surviving abuse or neglect, they are some of the most affectionate and gentle horses and donkeys I've ever interacted with. At the end of the day I believe these animals are able to recognize, and relish in the love and compassion demonstrated by the staff and volunteers. The property is pristinely maintained and each horse is cared for holistically. Red Bucket takes into account the physical, and emotional needs of the horses! Anyone who visiits Red Bucket will be shocked that these are in fact " rescue" animals. They are beautiful, capable, and have the sweetest personalities! At the end of the day there is something wrong with the people who mistreated these animals NOT the animals themselves I highly recommend visiting Red Bucket and would encourage anyone looking to adopt or donate to seriously consider looking further into this organization.

I am in my 12th year of Volunteering and it has been a life changing experience. The organization is professional, the ranch immaculate, the adoption process is thorough and and every aspect of the horses well being is the primary focus of all of the Red Bucket Team Members. So grateful for the lifesaving work that occurs behind the Red Bucket Gates!

How can you NOT love a place that does what this place does? My mother lives in Chino Hills, CA and adopted two rescue horses many years ago--Lucy and Brie (Arabians)--and these two horses became members of our family: the first horses my wife (from Japan) ever rode, as well as the first horses my children (now 12 and 8) ever rode. My mom has always been an equestrian, and she is now influencing my NYC girls--and granddaughters--to hop in the saddle as well. Keep up the good work!

Because it is a wonderful sanctuary maintained by loving and caring people. The resident horses, mules & donkeys are irresistible, so sweet and loving even though they were rescued from terrible situations. Thank God for Susan, the wonderful human volunteers along with the ranch hands for their dedicated and tireless efforts to help these magnificent creatures. May God bless them for their humanitarian efforts & acts of kindness.

No you could actually be apart underage but has to have parents permission.
I dont think they do horse lessons. I think they kust rescue and take care of horses. But you should call them to confirm
Volunteer at a reputable horse rescue for several years, learning all the ins and outs of starting, managing, and running a successful rescue, including how to fundraise. It is not easy to train a horse from foal through to adult- it is a lot of dedicated, time-consuming work. Rewarding for certain, but it is a committed job for many years.
Red Bucket has been complying with local Covid restrictions since the start of the pandemic & have been closed to the public, but this may change in the near future.
Certain horses are lifelong residents of the ranch. Some horses are up for adoption. Prospective adopters are thoroughly interviewed regarding their experiences and expectations regarding horses. Also the prospective living situation of the horses is visited by Red Bucket staff to ensure quality of life for the horse's forever home. If approved, a sale can go through, but with the proviso that if the horse can no longer be cared for by the person who adopted it, it MUST be returned to Red Bucket Equine Refuge to live
Yes! Volunteers are needed to help care for the horses basic needs. Go to their website & complete a volunteer form.
I'm pretty sure that you can, call and find out if you can
We are closely associated with Red Bucket Equine Rescue and regularly assist their efforts. Even my own daughter is a volunteer there. The policy on age is set at 16 for insurance purposes however, they also have a Jr Reds program that assist the nonprofit organization. For that, the responsibilities are geared towards age appropriate group supervised projects. The older group beyond 16 can obviously do more with subsequent equine training. Red Bucket Equine Rescue has such a training program (for obvious safety concerns with 1300 pound animals to be considered) for the regular over 16 program. For additional details I strongly encourage you to contact them either by phone directly or visit them on Sundays at their visitors center. Volunteering and helping Red Bucket Equine Rescue is a truly rewarding experience that I encourage you to experience for yourself and your children. You may also be able to find more information at WWW.REDBUCKETRESCUE.ORG . Hope this information helps!
Yes you can, the info is on the website.
You must contact the ranch owner Susan,
Hi, unfortunately not. I wondered the same. Since these horses have had traumatic experiences the staff keep them away from public until fully rehabilitated. If you want to pet horses and walk around check out the equestrian center at the OC fairgrounds. It's open year round. You can even feed them.
You should call red bucket
They do allow adoption to qualified owners
