I have waited almost 3 years to write this post because I wanted to ensure I had the perspective to give a fair review of this facility. I would NOT recommend this emergency vet facility. The vets and staff took advantage of my love for my cat to milk me of every last cent I had when it was a lost cause from the beginning. The experience with VCA left me very bitter during a time I was mourning the I took my 9yo cat to VCA almost 3 years ago because he had something wrong with his eye. He was getting progressively worse. My local vet recommended VCA (after this incident i decided to also switch vets because I was so disappointed with the referral to VCA). VCA could not determine without test after test after test what was wrong with my cat. Every day they would call with a new estimate for $2k more in tests and fluids. I kept asking them if my cat were their cat if they would recommend euthanasia because I loved him but did not want him to suffer. In addition my cat was in a cage where they also cared for dogs who were barking and scaring him. Looking back I wished I had just taken him home with pain medicine so he could’ve lived his last days with me. During this time I was incredibly stressed out because VCA would call asking for more and more money saying it could help us determine what was wrong. I believe VCA knew or had an idea he had a brain tumor and would not tell me so I could actually make an informed decision. I felt so guilty and VCA made me feel so guilty not spending all my money to save my cat. I wished they would have just told me it did not look good for him but they would keep saying they didn’t know while giving me false hope. After about $6,000 of bills over a period of a little over a week, I decided to tell them to stop…before VCA ever finally determined what the health problem was. I had to take out a loan to pay for the costs of the medial care. Then I had to pay a few hundred more to have him euthanized. It broke my heart and I was literally broke. It is really reprehensible what VCA is doing to make money for their business. It is unacceptable to play on peoples’ emotions when they are in this especially vulnerable state. Do NOT go to VCA. Please please go to a facility which will treat you and your cats with dignity, respect, and honesty.

This place works hard to take all the money you possibly have. Totally impersonal . Very concerned about the money rather than life saving support 1/10 would not go there again. Experienced them withholding life-saving product from a different VCA , forcing the other VCA to transfer an extremely unstable cat (instead of letting the other hospital pay to transport the special blood they needed) so they could absorb the client and make money. Honestly I’m so unimpressed.

VCA Tustin saved my dog’s life! Took him in to the hospital the end of December as he ate the stuffing inside a new toy. (PSA-DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG UNSUPERVISED WITH A STUFFED TOY!) Anyways he had to have stomach surgery to remove the stuffing. Bronson stayed at the VCA for 3 weeks as he had several complications after his surgery because of his age (12) and previous medical conditions. VCA Tustin staff was so amazing, they not only gave my dog world class treatment and care, but they were also very sweet to me. I called everyday multiple times throughout the day and night and everyone from the phone staff to the vet techs to the doctors were amazing. They never made me feel like I was bugging them and always answered all my questions. The techs even orchestrated several facetime calls with my dog. I could truly tell when I spoke to everyone on the phone that they all really cared about my Bronson. Honesty, my dog wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for this great group at VCA Tustin. I am truly indebted to this team and am in complete amazement of their skill and compassion. Dr. McDooling was brilliant with Bronson. She is his Internist and was his primary doctor while he was there. All the doctors are amazing as well…Drs. Supance, Collins, Munchel, Fatourechi, Durtschi, Shepherd and Uyeno. You really cannot go wrong with any of them. I highly recommend! The Vet Techs were phenomenal as well. I spoke mostly with…Jenny, Amber, Lisa, Gabby, Kamie, Janelle, Emma and Karen. They were all so caring and sweet. Even the phone staff, Daniella and Ellie were so thoughtful and compassionate. I cannot rave enough about this group! Thank you THANK YOU again everyone at VCA Tustin, without you I wouldn’t have my Bronson back home with me.

3-4 weeks ago we brought our sick cat in, after much deliberation we had decided to euthanize the cat. We paid for the procedure, the cremation and then paid 62 dollars for us to get a paw print memento so our family would have something to remember him by. We were told to expect the print in 2-3 weeks. After 3 weeks we had not received word or the paw print, so we called VCA. It took 4 days and multiple calls to find out that they screwed up on the paper work and we would not be receiving the paw print. My family is devastated and, honestly, this review is the only way I feel like I can do any good for them which is just so hard for me to accept. The facility is trying to make amends by returning the cost of the cremation and paw print, but that won't stop the pain that my family and I are going through. If you need to euthanize a loved pet, I cannot suggest you go elsewhere strongly enough. At least we have pictures of our cat to remember him by...
