This place is an absolute disaster. The amount of chaos and unresponsive is to the roof

Absolutely stunning level of dysfunction in this organization. The doctors I've spoken with have been smart, skilled and helpful. But there is something DEEPLY broken with the administration. As of this moment, I've been in horrible pain with a cluster headache (Google it) for 2 days. I called in to request a refill on my prescription but due to their error, there wasn't one available. So I had to go back to the UCSD staff to request a refill. It's now the 3rd day since I requested the refill, and I've spoken to UCSD staff and doctors 7 times during that time, each time telling them I'm in terrible pain and asking them to PLEASE expedite this request. Each time I was told they would handle it ASAP and would CALL me with an update. I've been through this exact same thing on multiple earlier occasions and I told them this, and they assured me it would be handled better this time. However, as per all my prior experiences, I've not received a single call back from any of the 7 people I spoke with, and after 3 days I still don't have a simple prescription refill. This is for a medication I've been taking for 10+ years, it's safe and has no dependency risk, and I've never had any side effects from it. It's literally a matter of someone simply calling the pharmacy and confirming a refill, and apparently this team is so helpless that they can't accomplish that in 3 days on behalf of a member who is in horrible pain. My general experience with health systems tells me there probably isn't a better one to switch to, or I'd have switched long ago. And my experience with UCSD tells me there's zero chance anyone from that organization will read this review, respond or make even the tiniest effort to improve. I say this because I've gone through literally this exact same thing multiple times. Once it actually took me 5 days of calling multiple times per day to get a refill. UCSD, get it together. Get leadership in there that will demand accountability from the staff. Get some quality staff in there who can "do what they say they'll do" enough to make a simple phone call. And maybe surprise me by calling me back for once.

I had an appointment with a nurse practitioner (NP) in the same office as my primary care physician. I had to see the NP because my Primary Care physician didn't have any appointments for two months. I called the Neurology department for an appointment after I was given a referral from the NP (the same day). The Neurology dept said that they would call me back after the Clinic 'reviewed' my file to let me know who would be able to see me. It was 6 calendar days before I received a voicemail from someone in their scheduling department. Then, the voicemail message that was left for me did not have the full telephone number to call back. The person who was leaving the voicemail left off a number. So, I googled and found some other phone number and called. After waiting on hold for some time, they told me that in order to go to the location I desired which is closer to home, would be a 13 weeks wait. I finally got them to find the first available appointment time which only 11 weeks out. What is the malfunction UCSD? This is RIDICULOUS!

Horrendously low quality of care and they treat you like cattle, without any regard or even politeness (unless you have some fatcat insurance), and their doctor discharges you inappropriately if you don't have moneyed insurance plan they can milk
