Went this morning to get my 10 month old’s gender corrected. I had the old birth certificate, the new birth certificate, the hospital verification paperwork, the hospital amended paperwork, the social security card with application as they asked me to have when I spoke to them when making the appt and he STILL wanted another form of identification like a passport or insurance card. The person I spoke to on the phone said having both birth certificates was good to have as forms of identity. I had to take off of work for my appt, i don’t have time to keep going back and forth. I made the appt with the records stated and then he put on the refusal that I didn’t have the documents required when i had so many. When i asked him for the number so I can make a complaint he gave me the wrong number.

After several calls, a woman answered us, super rude, we just wanted an appointment for a procedure for my daughter for her social. She just hung up on us telling us to go downtown, we called again and nothing! awful care

not one person that works here has any clue what they are doing !! they have messed up my case over 10 times telling me that I owe them money when they are the ones that owe me back pay. Each case worker tells you different things about your case they have no idea what they are doing.

Look, the advice I can give you is that you go to the office and take all the required documents in a large envelope (I don't know if you have to fill out an application for what you need) and leave them in the mailbox (the guards let you go to the office to leave your documents in the envelope), something similar happened to me, look for information, try to call and nothing... they are not answering face to face... The same among your documents you can put a note of what you want and after that you only have to wait for a response by mail from 2 to 3 weeks

I really dont know but that's a good question. I would think not because how can you verify the only thing I do know is that to call social security you gotta have a lot of free time since wait time is over a hour and to go to the office you have to have a appointment if not they will not see you

Generally no not now because of Covid but there are exceptions for hard cases and they'll discourage you from making an appointment...but if you have a situation, a VERY good reason that you cannot apply online...theyll make an exception...
