This is the House of the Lord on Earth, in which all that are invited to attend are instructed and make covenants with the Lord as did ancient Israel. As Temples were regarded Holy and Sacred places in ancient times, so this Temple and all the other ones like it that carry His name, that now dot the earth, in preparation of His second comming.

We aren't members, so we've never been inside the temple. With that said, this is still one of our favorite things to see at night! It's always brightly lit up, my kids will always point it out while driving home, especially at night. 🥰

While only members can actually enter... just walking the grounds amongst the beautiful building and lovely landscaping is a place to find peace & a time to ponder. Highly recommended to anyone needing relief from difficulties or perhaps more.

The Medford Oregon temple is one of the smaller temples but it’s beautiful. It doesn’t have a visitor center but you can still come and enjoy the flowers and fountains. Lots of bench area for meditating or reading. Lots of parking too.

The original Temple was first designed by King David. Solomon built it though. A lot of the designs in our temples are taken directly from scripture. Joseph Smith was also given inspiration as how to design the first temple. I'm a new member myself, but I'm pretty sure it talks about it and Doctrine and Covenants if you can get a copy of the Book of Mormon Doctrine and Covenants in the pearl of great price. I would start there as well as the Old and new Testaments. Our church practice is everything that the ancient Church did. I hope that helps answer your question!

The answer to this question will vary depending on the type of temple you're asking about. If you are asking about the first modern temple built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints then that was in Kirtland, Ohio.
