I have worked for Rev.com as an independent contractor for almost seven years. I started as a transcriptionist and at the time I started, pay was decent. Then, little by little, pay started being cut. About two years ago I switched over to closed captioning, and pay is still pretty good there., but in transcription, it is terrible. They now charge customers $1.25 a minute, but the majority of jobs now pay only 35 cents a minute. There are a lot of people who depend on this job to feed their children, pay their rent and other bills because for one reason or another, they are unable to work outside the home. Shame on you, Jason Chicola.

I LOVE this service! We use them to caption our videos, and to transcribe our videos. We also have their app on our phone - talk about a seamless process--- record it the Rev app hit upload and get your transcription in no time. I have had fantastic service 100% of the time. Been using them for about 8 months

I was skeptical about the accuracy of the transcription, as the source video was highly technical in nature. However, I was extremely impressed at the capability and accuracy of the results, and using these transcriptions has saved me huge amounts of editing time. I was also extremely impressed with the speed of the turn-around. I will definitely be using this service again :-)

I use Rev a lot and love how fast they turn things around. Usually 24 hours, sometimes same day. Accuracy is good - only one time I had an issue in at least 50 uses, and they re-did the transcription at no charge. I recommend them without reservation :)

Questions & Answers

Gaps in transcriptions are indicated in a 00:00:00 format. As an example, what does 00:10:25 indicate? Is hour:minute;second or something else?

When're you hiring new transcribers?

They are always hiring. All you need to do is go onto the website, scroll all the way down to the bottom and click on the "Freelancer" button. Then you will be directed to another page where you can apply. Then you will be reviewed.. hopefully accepted and then you are part of the Rev Transcriber Family. Good Luck
