My breath was taken away! The hike is fairly easy until you get to the base of the waterfall and then a steep climb to get a better view of the falls. If you can I recommend going up the steep climb a little for better views and pictures. Parking was plentiful, crowd was very light but I’m sure it gets busy on weekends. There was a sign stating the trail would be closing in May 2022 until spring 2023

Easy to find! Plenty of parking at head of trail! Take a easy walk through the beautiful woods along the streams of the Catawba River… Historic buildings are on site that you can enjoy and day dream about! Family/pet friendly! Enjoy the many little waterfalls along the trail!

This is a beautiful trail and worth the hike. Other than a few spots this is a great trail for inexperienced hikers. Our puppies loved the hike so if you have dogs and they like water this is a nice trail!

The beauty this trail has to offer is fantastic. We traveled forty-five minutes to get to his hike. It is an easy trail to follow. I am a photographer so the trail took me longer than usual to get to the end. It’s 1.2 miles to the falls. It is very well shaded and it follows along the stream. We saw butterflies, mushrooms, and old structures. It was busy but not to crowded. I recommend bringing a swimsuit, towel, and water shoes. If it's warm, you will want to experience getting wet under the falls or in the water hole. My daughter and I decided to hike to the upper falls, which was very challenging. I don't recommend it if you are not an experienced hiker. It was one of my most difficult to date. It was about twenty minutes to the falls and the swimming hole. The views made it all worth it. Spectacular and peaceful, for not many people make it up that far.

The trail continues beyond the falls quite far actually, if you're up for it on the steep inclines... We did 6 miles total but could have kept going. I think it eventually leads to the highway.
