Shockingly bad business sense for a practice that is concerned with quantity over quality. After missing an appointment, I was told I would be charged a $75 dollar fee, and if I didn't call them within 5 days they would cancel all my upcoming appointment (10 days later). On the 5th day, I called and was told all my appointments were canceled because I didn't get back to them by the 9th at midnight, not the 10th. Well, congrats. Not only have you missed making money on the appointment I didn't show up for, but also lost out on the $75 dollars you were going to charge me for missing that appointment, and all of my future business. If you are okay with essentially the same service you would get bringing your car to a Jiffy Lube, enjoy.

My experience at Lake Merritt Dental was far below par. The facilities are clean and the wait isn’t too long, but beware of unexpected charges and unnecessary procedures. I went in for a cleaning and when I got to the dentist’s chair they tried to lure me into a bunch of other procedures, like a crown and another deep cleaning that would cost me a fortune. After getting a second professional opinion I learned that Lake Merritt Dental was a complete and utter scam, not to mention the hidden charges for imaging that they didn’t even mention to me during my visit. While I’m sure they offer good services, I advise that you’re careful with the suggestions of their dentists and hygienists.

As a verifiable Chicken when it comes to dental work, I can honestly give a whole-hearted 5-star recommendation to Lake Merritt Dental. I'd had such negative experiences with dentists in the past (pain, unnecessary work, etc) and was so traumatized I waited 9 years before trying again. I'm so glad I was pointed in this direction. The front desk staff are lovely and patient, taking lots of time to go over details and the nuances of dental coverage and flexible during scheduling and when I'm running a few minutes behind. Alba is an incredibly warm and kind hygienist, expert at what she does and also very patient with me and my apprehension. She always takes time to explain everything that's happening and is very tuned into my level of comfort. Unfortunately I can't recall the name of the Dentist I met with, but he was also extremely kind and understanding of my 'traumatic' past experiences and made me completely aware of all of my treatment options. I really appreciate all of the work of this incredible team. Though I'm still not an enthusiastic patient, I will enthusiastically continue learning to be with their support ;)
