Very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you so much for all the tips. Thanks to you we chose just the right hike, the right places for dinner and breakfast... Wonderful hike along Belfast trail, up to Marble Graveyard, great views despite the rainy weather. As a treat after our 5 hour tour we went to "Lucky" which you had proposed according to our culinary preferences... What a match! In addition, you made our day by recommending the best coffee and pastry in town. Amelie and Marlene, you made our Roanoke experience great and unforgettable! Thank you.

Visited on March 10, 11 & 12, 2017. Really enjoyed St Paddy's parade. Attended Volleball tourney in the Berglund Center on Saturday night and had two problems: no access to handicapped parkings since the spaces were closed off for another event scheduled in the Berglund Center; two events going on simultaneously and the second problem was there was no traffic control to disperse traffic from the Berglund Center when the volleyball tourney was over. Did not spoil a good experience with the Hampton Inn and Martin's Restaurant. Just thought some feedback on the Berglund Center parking would be constructive. Will come back.

Unfortunately, we don't have any train tours. There's a hop-on, hop-off brewery tour on a bus that's operated by Tour Roanoke, which also offers a variety of food tours. We also have some self-guided walking and driving tours. The Tours page on our website has more information about the types of experiences you can find in Virginia's Blue Ridge: https://www.visitroanokeva.com/things-to-do/tours/
You could take Route 460 East out of Roanoke and get on the Parkway at Milepost 106 near Bonsack. It's approximately 10 miles outside of Roanoke. From there, it just depends on how long you want to spend on the Parkway. For a quick ride, you could get off at Route 43 and go north to Buchanan, where you can get back on I-81. For a longer ride, you could take the Parkway all the way up to Route 60 at Humphreys Gap at Milepost 45.6 and take Route 60 west through Buena Vista and get back on I-81.
They seem blue because of the forests that cover them, during photosynthesis, they release chemicals, which tend to block out certain color wave lengths, making look blue as you look at them from far away, as you get close, they get greener and greener.
Are you interested in scenic overlooks? One of the most popular is the Mill Mountain Overlook, which is also where the Roanoke Star is located. It offers an incredible view of Downtown Roanoke and the mountains on the horizon. There are also some wonderful overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway between Roanoke and the Peaks of Otter.
Beale's Brewery has info about the legend of the Beale's treasure that's buried in Bedford County. https://www.bealesbeer.com/legend-of-the-beale-treasure/
If you're interested in a job, we don't currently have any openings, but check this link regularly for any updates. https://www.visitroanokeva.com/about-us/jobs/
Unfortunately, that's pretty far from the area we represent and the Blue Ridge Parkway isn't near Abingdon. It looks like your best option from Abingdon may be headed south to Blowing Rock in North Carolina to connect on the Parkway there.
