I made an appointment with this practice for a second opinion. I desperately need knee replacement surgery. The first practice I went to told me to lose fifteen pounds and Downeast told me to lose thirty pounds before they would consider doing the surgery. I didn't even see one of their surgeons. I saw a nurse practitioner. She got my height wrong which affected how she scored my BMI and how much weight I needed to lose. She told me that no doctor in their practice would touch me until I lost thirty pounds. Fine...I know I need to lose weight but about a month later I found out that an acquaintance had had knee replacement surgery from Dr. Brooks at this practice and weight was NEVER mentioned and this person's BMI was higher than mine. This person attempted twice to contact Dr. Brooks but never heard back from him. Needless to say I was upset after my appointment with them and then felt absolutely discriminated against after learning someone else...a man was never required to lose weight before they'd do surgery even though his BMI is higher than mine. Other than being over weight I am healthy.

First time at. Downcast orthopedics and was kindly met and helped by all people I came in contact with. Carolyn Savage was very knowledgeable and easy to talk with. I told her my situation as a blueberry farmer and how I needed my knee replaced in time for my upcoming harvest at the end of July and she found me a cancelation that would allow time for me to rehab and make the harvest. They were booked till late June which wouldn't have been enough time. Much appreciation to her and the staff! Wish me luck! Lee Johnston.

I went to see doctor Martin for my knee which had been swollen for a long time he told me that the pain and the swelling come from my back well it didn't my parts in my replacement knee had come loose and he told me there was nothing wrong with knee. I just had a revision on my knee done 4 weeks ago. Then he told the nurse that I didn't need to come back. Well Dr Martin you were wrong and in my book you are not a good Doctor.

Their facilities are the most up to date I've ever seen. Digital X-ray machines, MRI Machines you don't go into that are so much more comfortable, and I'm told they built their own operating suites. Impressed as hell overall.
