DO NOT GO HERE! I had a horrible experience with DR.Manu and his front desk minions, who will have manipulative conversations with you at your expense- if you sign up for their wellness plan that is not enough for them they will attempt to exhaust the most charges from you as possible each visit- additionally there is not a feline only entrance and exit and there are always a ton of dogs in this petsmart

Sarasota Banfield reminds me of the Banfield staff I had in Oregon. They were kind and courteous. They took care of my dog as if she were their own. I will be going back there even though I live in Port Charlotte. They are outstanding! I can't say that about the staff in Port Charlotte. Thank you Sarasota.

Loved the staff at this location super attentive and kind. Appt. time wait is only 5-10 minutes after scheduling, but sometimes I wait for my dentist or doctor appts 30 mins past my scheduled appt time ahah Once the technician comes and speaks to you the time the appt takes is so quick couldn’t believe how fast the staff is. Love this place one of the best Banfield’s in the area. Even though they seem to be understaffed by their sign on the desk you can tell they are working hard to get to everyone in a timely manner. The wellness plan is great! Just signed my puppy Roger up and all my preventative care is covered now so affordable! So excited to be able to bring my pet here. 🥰

We have been here a handful of times and the staff is well aware that our dog gets very anxious going back into a room without us. I was told to make an appointment online, the available time slots begin at 7 AM and went on through the rest of the morning. I made my appointment for 8:30 in the morning and when I arrived I was told that the vet didn’t even come in until 9 AM and that I would need to leave my dog in their crate and I could come back in a few hours. The website made no mention of this at all so when I asked how long it would take once the vet came in , Lauren and Jessica became extremely defensive and would not tell me how many people had checked in before me to give me any kind of an idea how long I would be waiting. I questioned why I would even be allowed to make an appointment if there was no one there to treat my dog. Jessica and Lauren informed me that I’m lucky I was even able to have an appointment today because the vet almost called out. Lauren continued to throw her hands up in the air and say I don’t know what you want me to do and then walked off into the back room and said that someone else needed to come and deal with the situation. Meanwhile there was another woman checking her 14-year-old dog in that had severe mobility issues and when they told her that she would also have to leave the dog in a crate she told them that she was also never made aware of that and that she had spoken with someone on the phone and explained that the dog had severe mobility issues and could not be left alone. Jessica was assisting that woman and ended up walking off as well leaving the woman stranded at the counter. Another girl came out to try to resolve both of our concerns, and while she handled the situation much more professionally than the first two techs, she still had an attitude. Luckily the woman with the older dog was able to go to a different vet to get the necessary pain medication. A guy then came in, I believe his name was Derek, and he was extremely kind and professional. He allowed me to sit with my dog in the waiting area until it was time for the heartworm test, at which point he took him back into the room for a blood draw and immediately brought him back out to sit with me so that he would not have to go in a crate. Derek let me know that the vet would be in soon to review everything and that my dog could go back shortly to have his actual exam. Once the exam was over, the vet, Dr. Gaik, never even came out to speak with me once. Aside from my experience with Derek, I was extremely disappointed with all of the staff at this location. I would not recommend this facility to anyone and I will most definitely be finding a new vet, one that cares about their patients/pets and the pet owners.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?

Banfield Pet Hospital | Aug 21, 2020

Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
