This place saved me in extreme despair bouncing from 30 day shelters with $0 to afford even the bus with two other branches turning me down completely for food stamps. There was actually a discussion here about my situation versus in Downtown LA guy was eating a cake and looking at screen while listening to me in one ear then went to talk to his manager came back with basically 'nope, this is the policy - take care'. Missing crucial detail this DPSS picked up on. Its not always peaches here, but what matters most is when it works out, its a relief. And I'm writing this as I'm preparing for life's next roller coaster.

Out of all the service rep I've encounter and after months of failed attempts from service rep explaining me things poorly. I finally got connected to a rep that actually took care of my situation. Thank you Marlene Castana. Thank you explaining everything thoroughly, thank you for dealing with my constant interruptions (im sorry) and thank you for actually making me feel like you cared about the situation. Even if the situation wasn't fixed I respected that you actually went out of your way to try to fix it. Thank you so much.

These staff members here are very mean Very disrespectful and very passive. They don't not help you. They automatically have a attitude with you even if you are nice to them. They act like they hate you automatically. This county is a horrible place. Gives me anxiety when I have to go there. Never experienced such rude behavior from any county

A terrible experience from start to finish. I've just today, July 14, received a call on my application that was submitted over 2 months ago. Had I have not received a new job offer, I would be on the streets with no food, just like many others are. From day 1 the application process has been a disaster and I plan on taking this to the media. When I submitted my application online, I was told I was approved for expedited processing and that I would receive my benefits within 3 days. It was over a week before I even heard back to try to setup my "interview", which was another problem altogether. I waited on your phone lines for over 6 hours one day to get through with no luck. I emailed your customer service department explaining this and the answer I received was "you just need to call back". When I called back the next day I was finally able to get through after waiting about 2 hours on the line - unacceptable and it really shows a lack of commitment to citizens from the state and the employees working for CalFresh. During the call I provided all necessary information and was told my application was complete. Over 2 weeks later I received an email asking for a very simple letter explaining why I need the benefits. The request provided zero information on what to include in the letter and when I tried calling again I was on hold for over 2 hours. I hung up, wrote a letter and submitted it online hoping to hear back shortly. I was sadly mistaken. Today, July 14, I received a call stating my letter was insufficient and my application couldn't be processed. You know what would have alleviated the need for that call? You all actually telling your applicants what we need to include in those letters. The woman I spoke with today was nice enough, but you could tell on the phone she was over it - she didn't want to be on the phone and could have cared less. When I brought up my frustrations, her only reply was "well it's COVID". That's not an answer, that's your excuse. It's a dismal outlook on the State of California and government programs such as CalFresh when you cannot properly and quickly process applications and when you're lying to applicants about wait times on your website. Yes, there has been a severe increase in applications which is a shame, but as citizens of California we deserve to be treated with respect and our issues handled quickly. This was a very poor experience on CalFresh and this experience needs to be shared with the media in order to bring awareness to the issue. We pay into programs like this that way, if needed, we can get the help we need. You all have done a terrible job on this and should be ashamed - both as an organization and as individual workers.

You don't need to be working full time. There are a lot of services DPSS provides for people in your situation. Call any location to make an appointment or just walk in. Good luck to you.
You need to call your worker and ask why you didn't receive your benefit if they give you hard time ask to speak with the supervisor, thank you
yes

I know someone in DPSS & they said to apply for CALWORKS online if you have or can get access to a computer or smartphone. Be sure to say that you are homeless.
Yourbenefits.laclrs.org check this link out. The immediate answer is yes but you have to initiate the application process.
Depends, my son and I went into the office and left with benefits the same day. If you apply online it's different.
Yes but it's for 16 days
Call the number on the back of your EBT card. Workers don't like giving out their direct number cause their phone will be blowing up with calls. Ask your worker for their phone hours, they might give you their number.
Yes
You can apply for Medi-Cal in person online or by mail .
Yes. You can either pay after you start working or they will get it when you start getting social security benefits
Either a few hours or a couple weeks depending on your situation. Emergency food money can be issued the same day, for sure if you have children. They can also help with temperary cash assistance, medical, job search help, utility bills, moving money, rental deposit money, hotel money for a couple of weeks, shelter information, clothing vouchers...
8 am M-F
They mail you forms when your renewal is due. You can mail them back, but you should go see your case worker and deliver them in person, or they may get shuffled around and delayed. It is a very slow, disorganized agency and if your info is not submitted in time, their system will send you a termination notice.
I need to find out about my q7 what date is it supposed to be turned in
Apply for in home support
Don't worry she will be ok
The police was contacted and she was told to contact worker. Shes so mentally disrupted that she lost her EBT card 3x's last week. She just text and told me she lost it agaon last night if u heard her story the losses she has endured you would cry
