It is the best way to commute South towards San Jose, but not always reliable due to the frequent breakdowns and other disruptions. Also keep in mind the number of trains is very limited.

This is the only way to commute. Get off the highway and get your sanity back. This stop is simple enough to use. The parking situation is pretty bad however.

There is a dedicated lot to the train. I'm not exactly sure what you are thinking when you say safe. It's well lit in the evenings. But there is no security or anything.
You can take bart to Oakland Coliseum/Airport Station or Richmond Station but make sure you print your tickets first because there is no office at these 2 stops. There is also a Amtrak Station which has a ticket agent at Jack London Square station but not sure what train to take. I hope this was helpful.
2-3 minutes late maybe. Generally on time. Depending on when and where you work it ranges from maybe driving is an OK option to taking the train is a no brainer. Traffic after 4:30 on the 237 and 680 is a nightmare.
