Book lovers paradise🥰 used with good prices

My fiance and I just got home with two armfuls of books from this lovely used book store! We had such a great time hunting through the shelves to find interesting titles and some of our most loved stories. We recently moved across the country and had to leave many of our books in Ohio, so we're excited to restock our home bookshelves. There's books from every genre you can think of and quite a decent amount of vintage books, which was neat to see. You do have to do some hunting through the shelves and look through stacks and boxes of books, but it's more fun that way! The prices are also fantastic, and the man at the register was very fair with the prices. He even gave a discount on a couple of the books! We had a great conversation with the wonderful man at the register (unfortunately we didn't get his name). He made us feel very welcome and we bonded over a Celtic Mythology book and the history of our Irish families! You can tell he really values the customers since he was willing to have a 10+ minute personal conversation with us! We're so excited to go back and dig through the shelves again!

Staff is friendly and eager to help with finding books. Extensive selection at super prices. The children’s books start at a dollar! The books I bought are in great condition. I would go here every day if I could!

If not or maybe one of the worst used book stores I have been to, this is not a customer service friendly place, the owner and employees are not very welcoming, who knows it might have been the weather or maybe my luck, or possibly they were having the bad day. .........it doesn't matter I was treated with no courtesy I almost felt like the invisible man by Ralph ellison. There's so many used book stores in long beach that have and prioritize in amazing customer service, always acknowledging clients. To whom ever reads this Google review dont waist your time here at Once read books store.

Yes. We do take donations as long as they are not encyclopedias and are in decent condition.
Definitely see Roger at Once Read, even if he can't take the books off of your hands, he can tell you what they are worth.
Of course we do. Prices for mass market paperbacks range from 25 cents to about $4.95. Prices for large size paperbacks (otherwise known as trade paperbacks) vary.
Masks are required for the entire time you are in our store. We ask that customers try to respect 6 feet apart at all times. Employees wear masks at all times. I’m not sure offhand since I have not been in the store because of Covid but we often have some. If you can call (562)420-1034 between 10 and 4 Monday thru Saturday or 12 to 5 on Sunday one of the other employees will let you know for sure. No, there really isn’t much interest in current magazines. Your best bet is to put them in the recycling bin or possibly donate to a library.
