Lila Travis and her staff redefine compassion and caring in urban wildlife rescue. Their number one priority is caring for and rehabilitation of local animals rescued around the Bay Area. Endless dedication and selfless education of the local people encourage me to donate to this recognized charitable organization.

If you really care about the safety, well-being and prosperity of a wild mammal then this is the place to contact. Lila always puts the animals first and does everything in her power to make sure the little ones get the care they need. If she can’t help you on the spot then she’ll find someone who can. Trust this place. They really are one of the only sincere organizations in the bay.

The folks at Yggdrasil are as compassionate and loving as I’ve ever encountered. I’ve had occasion to visit the center several times and see first hand the tlc every single animal in their care receives. It’s a very small operation with all volunteers but each animal is given the love and care as though they were a long time family pet. The enclosures are always well appointed and spacious, and for all the terrestrial and amphibious species housed, each receives its own specialization. Yggdrasil is a center born of a true love and calling to help the littlest creatures among us.

I am a proud donor and supporter of Yggdrasil's work in our SF community. I follow their Facebook page and have seen evidence of the loving, tireless, thoughtful, expert, and humble energy devoted to each patient. I was even fortunate enough to be given a tour of their facility, where I witnessed the owner, Lila, has converted her own home into a beautiful, animal-centric habitat that mimics the natural environment as closely as possible. Animals have space, companionship, and safety. Just one of the animals I met was a tortoise who had survived 30 YEARS living in a small dark box, who is now loved and has freedom to stretch and roam. This summer, my son found an orphaned baby mouse in a house set with traps. Lila took time out of her busy day to text with us at length and provided specific instructions on how best to help this tiny creature. For anyone who has ever come across an animal in despair -- you know the helpless feeling of wanting to help, but being afraid to cause further harm. Lila gave us the confidence we needed to safely offer comfort, warmth, and shelter. I'm grateful for the service Yggdrasil provides to our San Francisco community and hope those who read this review will be as gentle with Lila as she is with our animal friends. Make a donation if you can, and follow them on Facebook for a spark of brightness in your day. ✨🐀

Questions & Answers

Hello, I have an injured Ashy Storm-Petrel, i am in a shipyard in Alameda, does anyone know a wildlife rescue organisation that can pick him up?

To the folks asking about specific animals that they have that need care, licensed wildlife rehabilitation folks are very unlikely to be checking these places often, your question will most likely not be seen in time. Please look up the California Directory of Wildlife Rehabilitators, and call the phone number to one closest one to you to make an inquiry.

I believe they can help with all animals. Give them a call. If they are unable to take/help an animal, they will know who can.

I have a baby bird with a broken wing I need somebody to pick it up so we can be rehabilitated because I do not have the means to take care of this for which I'm sure is starving as well.
