On July 4, I attended a beautiful wedding at Shepherdsfield. The ceremony was perfect and the venue is very pretty.

I am so incredibly disappointed and frustrated with how John Shepherd handled postponing my wedding. Might you, we put down our deposit over a year in advance to reserve the venue for an entire weekend, Friday-Sunday. We obviously did not foresee COVID happening and altering all of our plans. I reached out in April, 3 months before my wedding date, to ask how this venue was handling postponements due to COVID. He said COVID will go away and it will all work out. John said that we could just have a masquerade or have a mid-week option since “so many are unemployed”. When I specifically asked about 2021 dates he told me he was not ready to explore 2021 options. John finally told me that some people were getting an option for a refund. After about several emails back and forth I requested that he tell me future dates we could move our wedding to in 2021. He started with only giving me Sunday only dates. I explained that I needed 2021 summer dates. The pushback from John was exhausting! Throughout this process John made several political comments such as, “Gov. Brown is still hiding under her desk...” and “Once the initial onslaught is passed, hospitals will be able to tread and save all but the weakest among us. Like usual.” “I expect us to be back to normal in 2 months for sure. But then again, this is Oregon… Lol.” These comments were unappreciated and so unprofessional! I emailed and asked John for a refund. He emailed back with that our deposit was nonrefundable, no exceptions. Every other vendor was apologetic about COVID, reached out to me first to see how they could help during this pandemic, and transferred our date with ease. I am appalled by the lack of empathy and lack of professionalism from John Shepherd.

I want to start out with saying that Shepherdsfield is so amazing! We got married here June 6th, 2020. Our whole experience with John and Stephanie was wonderful and such a blessing to us. We will never forget it as long as we live. John and Stephanie was so friendly and always so welcoming in their home. They made it so comfortable and the best experience. John always answered my emails within 24 hours and he was always up front with us on any money encounters with him. The house is amazingly beautiful inside and out. Everything out there is amazing for pictures, fountain, gazebo, arch, gate, etc. The inside of the house too. Unfortunately our wedding was during this COVID-19 pandemic, but John was amazing about keeping us updated on any information he found out. He listened to us and our needs and helped us anyway he could. We chose to have him marry us and he interviewed us and our story and made a beautiful ceremony for us, specifically with our love story. I will always recommend them to anyone I ever hear is getting married and looking for a venue. You won’t regret it, if you chose to get married here. Thank you John and Stephanie! God Bless! Love always, Michelle and Brian Ennis June 6th, 2020

Absolutely wonderful venue! My stepson got married here in July, 2018. The place is great and the hosts are equally as awesome and helpful. Very warm and caring people who really seem to enjoy opening their home for such special events. The setting and views are spectacular along with plenty of room for guests and camping/motorhomes.
