Cool experience for a 5 dollar donation. There is a small informational area and three trails. The easiest brings you to a view of the falls across the canyon. There is a metal walkway and stairs that will bring you to the bottom of the canyon. We visited on a Sunday in July and there were other people there but it wasn't busy. If you are in the area I highly recommend spending 30 minutes of your time to check it out.

Loved hiking to the base of the falls. We also did the top of the falls, but uhhh, that one wasn’t really worth it. It was quite steep & you can’t see the waterfall from the top 🙃

A great little hiking spot with amazing views of a waterfall. Well kept trails, bathroom, and visitor center. I definitely recommend going on all the trails available! 5/5⭐️

Great hiking spot (easy). There is a long trail from the bridge that follows ahead, which I am yet to explore. But the view from the bridge and the bottom trail(this is a second trail option you will have ; takes about 10 minutes). The falls are exquisite.

I'd do it!
Not as of January 11th
It was open I went from the 21st to 26th of December and box canyon was open trails are slippery for the ice and some snow was really high around 20inches or more..the perimeter trail was the cleanest but still icy since was snowing each night..
eight to eight every day...
A relatively easy walk down towards the falls. Ending with a bunch of stairs to get closer to the bottom of the falls.
The Upper Box Falls is a good bit more of a hike than the Lower Box Falls.
Yes the trail is open. This is the month I went 2years ago. As for snow, it does snow occasionally in the month of Oct. Please be aware, if you are staying in Ouray though the town is VERY small and often most of it has already closed for the season in Oct.
Because of the popularity of the Box Cañon Falls as a nature viewing area dogs are not allowed within the park. Dogs are welcome on nearly all other trails in the Ouray area.
Not sure, but you drive into it, park and its a very short walk to the waterfalls, can go through a tunnel for a longer walk too
