Beautiful sites in the trees. Always cooler than in the city but also close enough to run down if you need something. Really close to most major hike trails in the area

This is a beautiful campground with some truly exceptional campsites. Unlike some other campgrounds that are in American Fork Canyon, this one doesn’t sit right next to the main road where you hear traffic going by constantly. It’s important to me when I take my kids camping to actually feel like I’m in nature, and Timpooneke Campground is one of our favorites for that reason and for the incredible views from within the campground or on the hikes available from within it. There’s a creek and a stream that both run through some of the camp sites or next to them. You can walk around the campground and find places to stick your feet in - the water is always freezing! There’s water faucets available at most sites and also in random locations throughout the campground that is safe for drinking (and tastes great)! There are also restrooms with port-a-poty type toilets throughout as well. There are no showers or sinks; and pets are allowed. I hope this info helps someone! We went middle of the week and it was not crowded at all. Very peaceful. The camp hosts were very respectful and did a great job keeping everything clean. Only struggles I had were the fact that there were no garbage cans and the traffic that kept going past all night. We figured the campground closed at 10 so the cars would stop. It didn't. And the big construction trucks going by before 8a were a big nuisance. We understood the pack it in pack it out idea, but that's a bit awkward when you are there multiple days.

Awesome and beautiful campground. Way up in the mountains with almost no one else around

Yes, up until the area where they close the road to access the Alpine Loop. Anything past that point is not accessible. So, Timpooneke is not open yet.

I just looked on their web site. It looks like they are closed through May 31st. It is also $24 a night... I really don't think you want want to be up there in March, it would be pretty cold and still would have a good amount of snow... If you are able to make it up another time, I highly suggest you should. This is my favorite camp ground now. The sites are far enough apart to where you feel like you are alone. And the views are amazing.
