I tried to rent a wheelchair with an elevated leg rest. I didn’t need it for the whole month due to surgery being scheduled and the service person quoted me the monthly and weekly price, which seemed reasonable. The service person then asked where I would be using it and I wasn’t entirely sure so I said side walks and possible dirt roads. He then asked if it was going to be used for the Oregon Country Fair. When I asked him if that location is an issue, he responded “Yes, I am not going to rent this to you” and ended the call. He never found out if I was going to use it there or provide further information about where you can and cannot use a mobility device rented from them. As a person the works in human services and is in need of mobility assistance, this experience was extremely disheartening. I would recommend using one of the other DME providers in the area before going here.

A friend purchased a walker online at Med Supply Depot, and they sent her an 18" instead of the 22" she wanted. We tried to return it because it was their mistake, but we would have had to pay shipping. I called Shaw Med, and John let us exchange it for the one we needed. We paid $40 and the walker, but no hassle with packaging it, and shipping costs. Thank you, John. You are a real life saver. My friend could not believe I was able to fix her major ordeal so easily. You are the best!!! We will definitely come to you for anything we need next time, and refer everyone to you for all their DME needs.

I called to find out what whether Shaw-med carried two different items and what their pricing was as well as to set up a time to meet with someone for a fitting. My hope was I could take care of everything I was needing in one stop, with one supplier. After verifying they accepted my insurance, with the fellow who answered the phone, I asked about the first item at which point I was to "that's not covered!" I explained I had verified with my insurance company and indeed it was; the response I received was "NOT!" Thus ensued a bit of back & forth with my explaining that as long as I had a prescription for it, then yes, my insurance would cover. I was rudely placed on hold then to be told very rudely that he talked to their billing person and they don't cover those and he doesn't know who I talked to "at my insurance but they obviously don't know what they are talking about!" Wow! Really. I checked what I needed to with my insurance as to what I would need to do to make sure the item was covered. After talking ext-ten-sively with the "right" person to get the "right" information, I find it insulting and presumptuous for him to assume the person I spoke with was unclear as to what was and wasn't covered- as that is THEIR JOB, not their billing persons'- and that it was ok to speak to me in the manner in which he did. Needless to say, I was so taken back that someone would ACTUALLY speak to someone cold calling their office, I decided I most definitely did NOT want to see how customers who transacted business were treated; which translates to my having to drive to two different places to have to pick up my items- both those businesses were fantastic BEFORE I stepped through their door! Thank you, Shaw-Med, for pointing me in the direction of medical supply businesses who care about having customers.

After a bad experience at King Med Sup I came here. They remeasured for compression socks and found the exact ones. They let me try them on first because they knew I was buying. Perfect fit. Left feeling much better for the day.

How can I get my CPAP repaired today?

Eleanor Parsons | Aug 22, 2018

Your best bet would be to take your CPAP machine wherever you currently get your services. Shaw Med does not sell or service CPAP or BiPAP machines.
