The facility itself is great -easy parking and access; open and airy building with a great courtyard post-security (it was especially great to have during the peaks of the pandemic), and a reasonable speedy security line during passenger crunch time. If only the airlines would bring back the flight frequency so that there were options when a flight is cancelled! Most departures are the first leg of an itinerary so often a delay or cancellation makes one lose a whole travel day.

Love me a good airport! I met my former husband when he taught me how to fly. There is nothing like the thrill of take-off after taxiing down the runway at 150mph. Our new airport is adorable. Yes, adorable, since it is a small, almost miniature airport. Larger than the former 80s Deco-style terminal, it sports our new "Farm Chic" aesthetic. The architectural outline is like a large barn, with a clerestory row of windows lighting the central space. This style is appropriate for San Luis, since we are surrounded by agriculture, and our Farmer's Market is world renown. To add to the ambience, there is a large LED screen featuring pictures of local tourist attractions and landscapes. If you look out the front window, you can see a painted cow sculpture and grape vines filling the nearby hills. Airplane themed art is also present in the terminal. A high tech desk has been created from the cowl of a jet, and parts of an airplane tail and wing used to form an abstract wall sculpture near the check-in counters. The attendants at the counters are friendly, and pointed out the arrival and departure board (inside the main door) when I didn't immediately spot it. I sat down to wait on the most spacious seat I have ever seen in a terminal. The chairs do have arms, so you can't stretch out and sleep. And I didn't really see any other space to take a nap. (Yes, I once spent 24 hours at LAX waiting for the next available flight back East.) The stained concrete floor, while attractive, didn't look inviting. I guess at a small local airport, you can always call a friend or an Uber to get home. The baggage claim was prompt, although my brother's plane delayed unloading for about 5 minutes since there is only one baggage carousel. Four major rent-a-car counters are right at the baggage carousel for convenience, and the new parking lot and elevator make getting to a parked car easy. All-in-all a definate upgrade for this SLO landmark!

Although it is the largest airport in the county it's not really close to Cayucos. It's about 22 miles south of Cayucos and takes 35 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. Also an Uber run will cost about $60 to $65.
It is actually 13 miles from Grover Beach,, CA. It is located in the south end of San Luis Obispo and you can take Uber or Lyft to get to Grover. The run will cost you approximately $25 to $35 depending on were in Grover Beach you need to get to.

Frist thought is are you sure you're contacting the airport location? If so I would suggest renting the vehicle on line and then picking it up at the airport. If all this doesn't work you could take an Uber/Lyft and come back the next day if that works for you.
Sort of depends on the day and time, but worse case would be 1.5 hours before your departure time. They have a 2nd TSA line early in the morning for pre-checked in passengers. I would also recommend taking an Uber or Lyft to the airport as the long term parking is $12 per day

Hi Perla, there are no direct flights from SBP to Houston or Tijuana. However, you can fly American, United or Alaska and connect to either place.
