This range serves a target audience, older hunters and 2 purposes... To shoot in your 30-06 for deer season or to see how your 1911 performs in the cold. That's it. Don't come here if you plan to do anything else. There is a 3 round limit per mag for rifles and 6 for handgun and most everyone there does discriminate against people who are outside the target audience. I had an RSO come by and tell me that my firearm was unsafe. After asking why he just told me it was unsafe and looked at me. I asked him if it was because it wasn't a bolt action gun from 1979? And he just looked at me and then inspected it and was condescending when he realized I was obeying the 3 round limit. Meanwhile 5 benches down there was an older guy shooting 6 shots from his pump action in 1 go and the RSO didn't do anything. Awful. Only plus is it's very cheap.

I've been there many times. There's not usually many people in the morning, if any at all. Most of the people that go there are very friendly, unless there are college students there. Half the time they bring friends that don't know the first thing about gun safety or range edicate. They handle guns while people are down range. You can't tell them anything. I leave when i notice they aren't safe. Other then that, i have a great time with people there and met many nice people of all ages. Nobody has ever begged to shoot my guns or asked for ammo. It's usually pretty relaxing.

One of the best public ranges around. While some of the rules are strict and obnoxious you cannot beat that this is basically free. Lots of options, great facilities! Tons of fun!

This is the nicest State Game Land Range I've been to (only two other ones in my time: Caledonia (alright, save the vandalism) and one near Mechanicsburg, small and crowded). It's clean, has plenty of space, and multiple different range-types, including pistol, shotgun, and long distance. The State improved the road to get out there, so those of you without trucks/4x4s won't feel like you're going to lose a tire. There's even a steady stream of friendly reloaders to collect your brass. Plus, it's close and I don't have to join the NRA.
