This veterinary office came recommended to me. I called them on Thursday last week to schedule an exam because I noticed my pup was having some mouth pain and very bad breath. I'm pretty sure he needs a dental and sooner rather than later due to the pain he is in. I called them originally on Thursday, March 24. Because of scheduling conflicts I was told to call back today for a same day appointment for an exam, which I was happy to do since they aren't taking new patients but would see us due to the familial recommendation. I call back this morning, Tuesday March 29 and was immediately told, "Sorry, we aren't taking any new patients...and haven't been for a couple of months now." When I explained the situation and was told to call back, she pretty much just shrugged me off. Now why on Earth would someone tell me last week, after putting me on hold to get the vet's approval, to call them back this week to schedule same day. I know that our current state of affairs has left many businesses short staffed, but don't tell someone to call back to be seen then reject them. I'm so enfuriated because now I have wasted days trying to get help for my dog and have to restart the process of finding a new vet. The reception staff today, specifically Sonia, was definitely not even close to providing even a minute amount of compassion or customer service here. She didn't even want to help me in the slightest. If I could give zero stars, I would. On to the next...

I have brought my cat for years and recently the 2 dogs we have now. My girlfriend recommended this place after her experience with her cat and we love the staff and communication. They are always nice and friendly. They call to see how our pets are doing after visits and we thankfully have had great experiences with every doctor and nurse, even with my cat being very difficult around strangers. Compared to other local places we took our pets to before, this animal hospital will be our family's place to go.

I took Stuart in the day after Thanksgiving because he was not doing well and had not eaten in over 12 hrs. No other animal hospital would take him in without appointment because Exotic animal Vets were overbooked. I am so thankful that Dr. Nissen and her team of proffesianals took Stuart in right away. I am forever grateful for they saved his life. The facility was state of the art and very clean. The staff was freindly, caring and extremely knowledgable. Would highly recommend Palomar Animal Hospital.
