My fiance found a dog 5 minutes next to the Hawthorne DMV away from this shelter as soon as the girl working in the front desk today heard Hawthorne she said "we can't take this dog".. cool, the girl gives him a place he apparently can take the dog we have no car we are financially struggling but my fiance has a good heart and used money to uber the dog there just for this girl that obviously has no idea what she's doing when she proceeded to direct him to a place that no longer has a contract with them and failed to tell my fiance that! So we had to waste extra money just to uber once again to a place that wasn't even a shelter and couldn't take the dog So my fiance is sitting in front of a place wondering what the hell to do because aninal control wont even answer and none of these good for nothing "pro animal" places want to help this poor dog shame on you spcla

All my daughter wanted for Christmas was a cat. So we decided to get it with spcala. We spoke with Norman regarding Joe. One of the kittens we were interested in. The process took a few days. What I didn't like was, we weren't able to see the animal before the final paperwork. I understand covid and all, but it still would have been nice. If we did, I probably wouldn't have gotten it. The cat was bigger than I expected. We asked for kittens and being that we knew nothing about cats, we wanted something small. We end up getting Joe and his brother Nick. (Keep in mind this is all done without seeing them) we were told they are brothers and they were very close. So we felt bad and didn't want to separate them. After all the paperwork was signed and finalized, we noticed the cats were 1 month apart and they were also different colors. We are still in the process of bonding with the cats. Which has proven to be very difficult, but we are taking it one day at a time.

Friendly staff. Animals seem to be well taken care of. Got our new family member today, staff made sure the entire family was involved to make sure our pet was perfect for all of us. We love Luther, he is great and seems to be comfortable with us. Thank you!

Go in and introduce yourself. They post notes about things they need. That's a place to start. It's very small and nice.

Well depending on what your budget is like you could have someone come to your home so that your dog is most comfortable in her last moments(expensive) or you can go into your vet and they will be able to handle it in office. It's very peaceful either way you choose and most vets will give you a moment to spend with them before your final goodbye.
Yes. You can walk through the dog kennel areas to see the dogs, and let them smell you
