Looking for some fireplace items. Not one customer in store yet not one person asked her anything. One of the workers asked, did you see the customer! That person said yes yet 5 more minutes passed. Bye bye. Shame that customers can be ignored like that. We will look elsewhere.

I had a very disturbing experience! Low class for sure ( we think, anyway!) I had orders slings for 2 patio chairs-very high priced/good quality/no complaint there! They ordered wrong sizes...no problem. Waited another 6weeks..,had them put the slings on for me..,and...they charged me almost as much as the darned sling replacements! Not good! I could have done the replacement had I known that they were going to charge $85 per chair to put the things back on!!!! Yikes! Not good Trends! Not fair at all!

I was doing a remodel on a home which had a 17 year old fireplace which did not work. I troubleshooted (troubleshot?) the hearth and found the problem and set-out to find the parts to bring order to that which was out of order. I went here. I brought in my papers and drawings, the fruits of my labor. I asked for that which would right the wrongs and was told that the parts are not being made anymore and that I must replace the whole sh-bang. Price tag? Over $1000. Then, as I was leaving to give the homeowner the news, a man returned to the store from being on lunch. He was a bit older than me (a "bit" is "25" in bar-talk), he was leathery and wise-looking. He wore the fires from 10,000 fireplaces on his grizzled muzzle. He knew, somehow, why I was there. This sage, the owner perhaps, asked to see my diagrams. We went to the counter and he mulled over them, digesting. Ruminating. Then he asked simply if I had tried this one simple task. I told him I had not. He suggested that I do. I gathered the papers, returned to my car. I felt a warm peace all over me, a feeling not of determination, exactly, but of a sense of purpose, of "right". Shaking my head to clear it, I drove away, excitedly, and returned to the remodel. I ran inside to find the homeowner standing in front of the fireplace. He was clicking a remote, flipping a switch dejectedly. He muttered "It's finished. It's dead." He broke from his malaise upon my entrance and exclaimed, "What did they say, man? Tell meh!" I told him that if my calculations were correct, he would be paying out almost $2000 in parts and labor. He wept. I then told him that if my calculations were wrong and that if the Old Fireplace Prophet was correct - it would cost him nothing and the fix would be quick. I set to work, undaunted by the homeowner's pleas for explanations. In a matter of moments, it was done. The fireplace was saved. Things were made right. And it was all due to an unanticipated meeting with a man, no - The Man. The Fireplace Man.
