The museum has closed when we’re here at 4:00pm. Only walking around and sitting. Be quiet!

Immersive exhibits that are family friendly, yet culturally and naturally significant. The self paced areas were genuinely as fast or as slow as your party wanted. Fabulous spot! Oh, and we were able to see Osprey in their nest!

Boat ramp, parking lot, bath rooms at a park with businesses an museum. Clean with a pleasant view of the river. Good for a travel break or study of history and ecology. Boardwalk on piers. Road continues past railroad bridge, through industrial area, under 101, and back into town by the Oregon Dunes Visitors Center.

A nice regional museum of local and natural history located on the Umpqua River in Reedsport. You will find two exhibit halls, a gift shop and a theatre. The first hall features the history of the region from the native Kuuich tribe, to the early explorers and the pioneers, and life in an early Tidewater Town. The Tidewaters & Time Hall is very interesting with the history of the Chinese in the local canneries. The second hall is on the local animals and natural history such as the sand dunes. A indoor trail takes you through the different environment such an estuary, a forest, a mountain meadow, the dunes and a weather station. The Pathway to Discovery Hall is very interesting with information on bears, elk, clouds, and an education room with videos. Outside is a Totem Pole from an old mill that was carved by Lelooska. You can walk around the boardwalk to view the river and the bridge. Currently open 11AM -4PM, Wednesday - Saturday. A cafe is next to the museum. A great place to spend an afternoon in Reedsport.
