Agency not representative of other ethnic groups with lack of diversity. Slow at responding back after reaching out to the agency.

Gracious and welcoming staff. If you are looking for safe space and a health center for your question. This is the place for you. This center offer's a wide variety of services and, at 70, age is not an issue.

Love the 'Gathering Place!' The group has energy and passion...lots of support. Extremely welcoming and good food.

Friendly staff. Very resourceful space that offers a variety of different needs for the East Bay LGBTQ community in a SAFE environment. Not the place to cruise for dates, but a great place to make friends, and meet local gays in your community with a purpose. They offer Yoga, Meditation, Professional Counciling, Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Meetings: including Alcholics Anonymous & Crystal Meth Anonymous Groups, Men over 40 Groups, Senior Groups, Parent Groups, Transgender, Lesbian, Talk about WOW! I recommend you look on thier website prior to coming in 1st so the staff can better serve you. Drop ins are always welcome, but the staff is better at guiding you through the venue, and resourceful to guiding you in the right direction. Entrance is hidden on the side of the building on Rand street, above the T-Mobile. They even have a library of LGBTQ books that cover all areas of LGBTQ life fiction and non-fiction. Not to mention Umbrellas other professiobal LGBTQ (non-profit) offices That support the community. Very diverse group, that's easy to talk to. So if your new to the life. Walking through the doors of Oakland LGBTQ Center is family oriented and very inclusive for those who are on the DL or Discrete. I highly suggest for those who can to Donate money, and for those who can't donate, sign-up to volunteer and be a part of your community. Fun times to go for myself personally are Open-Mic, and Game Night. I've seen mighty big groups for Yoga & Mediation nights. Venue is Handicap accessible and has a parking lot and elevator. Highly suggest looking at the calender of events, classes, meetings to see what suits you best, arrive 5-10min prior. This is what Oakland has needed for a long time. Executive Directors are Joe Hawkins & Jeff Myers that deserve a serious Bravo for brining Oakland together as a Community. Centrally located right off Lakshore Ave. Finally a venue to be a part of something, minus the pretentious attitudes, where you just be yourself. 5-Stars for Oakland's LGBTQ Center. Hands down XOXO-J.C.

My daughter and her partner reside in Oakland and need emergency rent aide. I do not live close by. Is there a program or center that can give them information that might help them. Please advise.

One more option is St Vincent de Paul. if either has a life-threatening illness for example cancer you can try the Love from Margot Foundation https://lovefrommargot.org/what-we-do/
