So I booked Mae on the recommendation from a friend. I really didn't know what I was getting myself into but the first clue is that you make a reservation on Resy. (Very nice restaurants use Resy.) I found out it was a Prix Fixe menu with wine pairings for an additional cost. It is not a cheap night out, we ended up paying about $170 a person, but it was really worth it. We started with a cocktail and chose the $45 wine pairing. Sidebar: the wine pairing was really special, I never heard of any of the wines, but they were all so good, and really thoughtful with the dish choices. The bartender is one of the best. I tried the four cocktails at my table (it's my job as a local guide to be thorough:) and all of them were absolutely amazing. Now on to the food. It was 10 courses and really elevated southern fare. The owner was so sweet, and introduced all the dishes to the table. Seriously great food kept coming to the table, I'm sad I'm not there right now. The atmosphere was intimate and casual, the food was outstanding. Highly recommend for any special occasions.

Finally got to try Mae. Much more expensive than yonder, but also much better. Didn't have a bad dish. Still thinking about the biscuits.

Maya puts a lot of heart into her food, and it shows. We ate here on a "Meat +3" Monday and left pleasantly stuffed. The meals are BYOB, and though we were content with the provided bottomless sassafras sweet tea I wish we'd brought a little bourbon to spike it. The three fat fried chicken and the collard greens were the best I've ever had, and the salt and vinegar chips on the pimiento mac and cheese were a tasty touch. The meal is perfectly ended with a banana pudding that took me directly back to my childhood. Keep in mind that if you wish to leave a tip for the fantastic service, you'll need to bring cash.

Excellent southern food options that are seasonal and take advantage of local ingredients, though unfortunately not local to here. Maya Lovelace is the chef, and she walks you through the ingredients and inspiration behind each dish/course, of which there are a lot at the Wednesday seating. Everyone was more than stuffed by the end, but that's part of Maya's goal. I'll definitely be back but for a Monday menu, which will hopefully be a little more manageable.
