If I could give my experience at this lab a minus star, I would. My doctor ordered bloodwork and the wonderful ladies in the doc's office scheduled the appointment so all I was to do was to go downstairs to the lab as I was pre registered...or so I thought. I went into the lab and waited my turn. As I noted that everyone had left and no one had acknowledged my presence I stood up and enquired about my appointment. I mentioned that the doc's office had scheduled it upstairs. The woman sat at her computer with a very loud sigh like it was really a big imposition for her to check to see if I was there. I was told I was not in no uncertain terms and would have to go to registration. She wasn't even pleasant about it. I went out into registration where again, it seemed like a big imposition to them. Guess it was because I mentioned that the doc's office had registered me. I told this woman she was being borderline rude. Her tone of voice was not even remotely pleasant nor professional and after my comment, was downright hostile. Wow...I go back to the lab and no one was waiting so I stood there waiting to be acknowledged. I could hear the two lab techs talking around the corner. I waited for them to go back into the room. Again, no acknowledgement from either one of them. The big blond noticed I was there, took a paper off her desk, came back to the reception area looking for someone else. Didn't even make a comment to me. Real professional. She finally...finally asked my name when she sat back down and said come on in. I was taking off my coat and didn't notice which chair she had pointed to. I sat in the opposite one..Wow...that was a big deal...OKAY she says scowling...I mean really scowling...I finally asked her if she was having a bad day..Wrong move on my part..This isn't how I wanted my day to start. These people have no idea what the patient is at the doc's office for. Understanding and kindness would go a long way..These people have none of it. I will Never use this lab again nor will I ever recommend it to anyone else and will absolutely share this experience with anyone I can. I would much rather be inconvenienced and have a better day than to wish I had never came across this type of behavior from supposed "professionals".

Questions & Answers

When can you get a COVID test?

I would suggest calling the COVID hotline. With this pandemic the hours and times and locations of testing have changed from time to time, and that's the best way to stay up to date. You will likely also need an order from your physician, and they can help you with that as well.

As vulnerable adults (age 85) we would like to have our vaccine administered while in our car. At Parkview you successfully did this for Covid testing. Are you planning something similar for covid vaccinations, i.e. appointment and line up in car?

Thank you for your question Our ability to schedule COVID-19 vaccination appointments is dependent upon eligibility requirements determined by the Maine CDC as well as availability of vaccine. We are now able to provide additional vaccinations to those who are 70 years of age or older (including our patients and members of the community). We are working on the outreach process for community members who are not our patients to allow vaccination scheduling as soon as possible. As eligibility expands, Mid Coast Hospital will be standing up a large-scale regional vaccination clinic that will provide more than 800 vaccines daily. The best way to stay up-to-date on our vaccination efforts and your eligibility is to visit our COVID-19 web pages.
