Only LED Tiki torches, and save your money at the in camp dump. The only thing that ran smoothly there (if at all) was the payment. Nice park overall, however many lots are situated with table and fire ring BEHIND the trailer. Awkward layout in some camps to say the least.

I absolutely loved this campsite. The hosts were very kind, you can tell they go above and beyond. The lake and the location is beautiful. They have clean, easy to access bathrooms. They have kayaks right on location you can rent that are cheaper than ones I have found at other local places. They had a family movie at a location for those who wanted to join. They have nice, clean and flat spots for tents. Thank you so much to the wonderful people who run this campsite and letting us enjoy the beautiful Pend Oreille.

Well maintained. Beautiful location. The camp hosts were the best we've ever encountered. Flush toilets. Only 30 minutes from Sandpoint, and Davis Mercantile in Hope is a great little store. Also, you can rent a slip for a boat at Beyond Hope Resort, and it's within walking distance. Finally, there's a really nice (but short) hike right across the street. Overall, one of the better campgrounds I've been to.

This is one of our all-time favorite campgrounds. The facilities are clean and the camp hosts are actually present and helpful. They sell firewood and ice. The large beach is a beautiful but rocky; bring water shoes. Davis Grocery in Hope it's close by for all your grocery needs. Only thirty minutes to Ponderay if you need to make a bigger purchase.

How strange that it's not on any of the websites! We camped there last month and I believe check-in time is 2 pm and check-out time is noon. Lovely campground, hosts actually do their job and keep it clean.
Just camped there last week. On the day use side, the shaded area is about 30 yards from the water. But there's picnic tables up there and it's usually very breezy and pleasant. Awesome campground.
There is a limit of 2 vehicles per site. I don't know if they will allow two camper trailers. I'd call the local ranger district at 208-263-5111.
As of August 5, 2019 campfires are allowed. Called 208-264-0605 during the season especially late summer to be sure this is the case.
Generally, Sam Owen opens for camping the middle of May. Check reservations.gov for actual opening date each year. Sam Owen is open all year for walkers.
